on a ride??? I was so stinking nervous on Rock & Rollercoaster that I couldn't even relax. I just kept holding on to my glasses for all I was worth :rotfl2:
So does this happen or am I being nervous for nothing??
For what it's worth my DH and DD both wear glasses and they could have cared less while they were riding!!

This happens all the time. If you loose yours, just stop by guest relations in the park and fill out a form. Of course, you might need somebody to read the form for you. :goodvibes

Seriously, even if you don't do rollercoaster type rides, its always a good idea to have a back-up pair of glasses if you are heavily dependent on them.

When I ride Test Track and BTMR, I always panic at first.

I always make sure to take off my hat and put it away. But so far have had no problem, but then I will not ride RnRC :lmao:

I guess it depends on how your glasses fit. I have been to WDW every year since 1999 and rode every ride, Space mountian, Rockn rollercoaster, tower of terror, the whole spectrum. I too held onto my frames the first time I rode Rockn Rollercoaster and bent the heck out of my frames from my head moving but my glasses being held in place. I was able to bend them back into shape and continue to wear them. After that I always brought my second pair but to date have never needed them. It obviously does happen as Disney Lost and Found has boxes full but I wouldn't think you would have a problem if yours fit snugly.

A little tip: When riding rides like Rockn I keep a hand close to my frames but not actually holding them (don't wnat to bend them again) If I feel them getting looser I either push them back into place or hang onto them the remainder of the ride. Never lost a pair yet and only bent one pair in 6 WDW trips and 1 DL trip.

Although my glasses fit well and I always travel with a spare pair, I still take my glasses off on any wild rides for fear of losing them.

I've worn glasses for years and have been on every ride imaginable. Have never lost my glasses. I wouldn't worry too much. Take an extra pair if you think it will help. Or take them off before you ride. I just make sure that I have tightened them up so that they are on really good. I find the force of the ride tends to keep them in place. I usually don't even think about it.

My DH lost his prescription glasses on Space Mountain last month. Needless to say, his words were not child friendly upon exiting the ride vehicle! Unfortunately, he had taken them off and put them in his shirt pocket. We stopped by guest services and were told we would have to come back at closing time that night or they would be sent to a centralized lost and found the following day. No one ever mentioned a form. A couple of days later, DS lost a couple of pins on Space Mountain so we again went to guest services at close, this time 2am, but they told us the ride wouldn't be cleaned for at least two more hours. Again no mention of a form.

We did not recover any of the lost articles. :confused3

I had them adjusted right before we left on vacation, but right before the Birds of Prey show at AK, the screw fell out, and with it, the lens. I could not find the screw anywhere. We went to guest relations, no eyeglass kit. Thank Goodness I had my mom and dad with us on this trip. My dad went over to the counter at guest relations, asked for a paper clip, and had me fixed up in no time!

Thanks Everyone! I do keep an eyeglass repair kit with me at all times. With 3 of us in glasses it does get used often. I will look at the string you attach, my only problem (not problem so much as a hassle) is I switch from my glasses to prescription sunglasses quite often. I'm going to have to try the string(croakies?) out before we go to make sure it's all good.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only worrier! I could never take them off during a ride or I would feel sick - unless I keep my eyes closed the whole time, but that's no fun!!
Thanks Again!!

Just a funny story - we went swimming with the sharks at Typhoon Lagoon and my mom stuffed her glasses down the front of her swim suit. When we were done, she reached for her glasses and realized they'd fallen to the bottom of the lagoon! A CM was able to dive and retrieve them, but it occured to me - if she wasn't wearing her glasses, how was she even able to see any of the sharks and fish??? Silly wabbit.

My DD, 1 1/2 at the time like to pull my glasses off as a sort of game. Well - I let her do it during a ride through Small World - and I'm sure you can all guess what happened next - Plop! She through them right into the water. :sad2: You might think I would have learned my lesson after that right? :confused3
No - had sunglasses sitting atop my head for Pirates - leaned over to look into the water and - splash -they were gone! :guilty:

I was scared the 1st time on RnR, but realized the force of the speed kept my glasses on. Same with Space Mtn and FastTrack.

Haven't tested it on Everest yet!! :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

Dh put his prescription sunglasses in his shirt pocket on TOT. We dropped and they flew up in the air. By some miracle they landed at his feet and were still there when the ride ended - whew!
