Has any one ever done the land portion, then done the sea portion....then returned to the parks to kill some time before a late flight home? I'm sure your out there some where! I think we might end up going back to the parks for a little last minute fun, but what is transportation like on the return to the Airport? Is mears the best way to go? Should I call a Cab?

Any suggestions?

I have never done that but you may want to consider what time of the year you are going. Maybe a trip to Downtown Disney to kill some time. As far as transportation, have you thought about renting a car-that way you could go where and when you want. Oh yeah, if it is going to be a warm part of the year you could consider a room at the Hyatt at the Orlando Int'l Airport- if that is where you are flying from- for the day and use their pool. Then you would have the room to shower, nap or whatever. I just stayed there last minute in Sept. and it was $150.00. Good Luck and have a great trip.

We did this on our first trip (though we went to Kennedy Space Center rather than the parks). We rented a car to go one way from the port to the airport (I think we used Avis). It was a great way to wind up the trip. I think it cost us around $40 for a small car...

Last month we were supposed to stay 3 nights on land after our cruise. But Hurricane Frances blew in so we decided to leave later that night and we were lucky to be able to change our flight to 6:25pm that evening. We had an early breakfast onboard and were off the ship by 7:10am. We had a rental which was parked in the lot, so we drove to MK and spent a good 6 hours in the park, managed to do all our favorites and have lunch at LTT, and still made our flight (well, ok - just barely - but it was only because we were searched :) ). The best part was that one of our Dis friends onboard gave us 2 one day adult park tickets so all we had to buy was 2 kids tickets (thanks again DVC from NJ).

On another trip we had a 2pm flight post cruise and we did go to DD for a while. We always get a car so it makes it easy.

We are doing this!! Tiffany Town Car is taking care of all of our transfers and they are even holding our luggage for us while we play at the Magic Kingdom for the day. We thought it would be a great way to capture some last minute Disney Magic before our 9:00 p.m. flight.

Our first DCL cruise was a 3-day land and 4-day sea. We stayed at Beach Club Resort, then the cruise, then came back to Coronado Springs for three more days. I would not, however, do it again. The extra days at the end were too much and we were tired and not in the mood to lug our bags around to another resort and take bus transportation two more times. That's why we never tag any days on at the end of the 7-day cruises now. We do any land vacation prior to the cruise so we can just go home afterwards. Just my 2-cents....

When it's our turn to cruise, we'll be traveling down via AutoTrain in a sleeper. We'll arrive on Saturday morning (baring any unforseen delays). Driving to and staying at a Downtown Disney area hotel Saturday night, and visiting DTD and PI. Sunday morning drive over to the port. 4 day Wonder cruise. Then drive back to Disney for 3 nights at PO-R with a park hopper. Then back to the AutoTrain for the journey home.

I enjoy the AutoTrain - it gives us time to unwind from our hectic life and relax before we begin our vacation. Then the trip home gives a little extra time to rest up from the end of the vacation. Everything is packed in the car, no worry over lost or misplaced luggage, and we don't have to put up with the stress and crowds in airports. Plus I am not particularly fond of flying.

It is only DH and I traveling - our "children" are now 21 and 22 so we don't have little ones to deal with traveling anymore.

Yes, I have everything planned and it's only 368 days till we leave.

Because of my dd's school situation this is what I have to do. I originally planned on adding 3 days to the beginning of my trip because it's much easier but that would mean my 11 yr old dd will miss 2 full weeks of school and I will miss more work so I am now doing 3 days land/4 days sea and coming back for 4 more days (3 nights) to play in the parks. I hope it goes smoothly:rolleyes:
