My DD is going to Australia for her spring semester of college. She leaves the end of Feb. and returns July 2. I plan to visit her in April and wonder if anyone has personal experiences and ideas for me on the not to miss places. She will be in Sydney.
Thanks,
Kim:D

I haven't been there but I have been to the DIS Class Yearbook and now so have you on page 92.

I was there 3 yrs ago. I was in Sydney and it reminded me of Boston in a way but I loved it. Don't miss Grace Brothers store in downtown and make sure you go to the Rocks. Argh, I should look at my 8 hrs of Viseo tape I took to really remeber all the fond memories of Australia. I would love to go back, you are so lucky to be going and even more so your daughter for college. :D

Hi! Yes, I was in Australia 2 summers ago and also 5 summers ago. I travel as a delgation leader with a program called People to People. It is a student ambassador group that travels abroad. Some highlights in Australia: the Sydney Opera House, climbing the Sydney Harbor Bridge, visiting Tangalooma a wild dophin resort off of Australia, taking a ferry boat out to the Great Barrier Reef, Bondi Beach- famous for surfing, and many more. Remember the seasons are also reverse of ours. Please pm me if you have anything I can answer for you-

I've also been to Sydney a few times, as I used to work for a New Zealand company. Ellenec covered most of the highlights in the city.
I found that Sydney is also very easy to do "day trips" from. The companies I remember are Australian Pacific www.aptours.com.au or AATKings www.aatkings.com. They run day trips from the Rocks area daily. You can go on their website, click Australia and "daytours"
I did a day trip to Canberra (Australia's capital city) which I really enjoyed. We saw the parliament buildings, the city itself, war memorial museum, and I think we stopped at a sheep station on the way there.
Also, a day trip to the Blue Mountains is fun - did that twice.
They also have short 2-3 day trips to other parts of Australia. Australian's love to travel around their own country, so the tourism is set of for that really well. Just check the websites for a list of their daytours.

Yup, sure have...............I live here;)

I'm in Brisbane, but do know Sydney & the places to see.

If I can find the info I have I'll pass it on........we were actually planning to head down there this month, but it didn't work out.

Lots to see & do down there tho;)
