I would love, love to do this with my daughter.

However, I own BWV so only have a 7 month window to book.

Has any non owner been able to get AKL concierge? I'm pretty flexable about when I go ( I drive ) but I'm thinking with only 20 something of these rooms, I'll need more than flexable.

Thanks

If you're really flexable, could you call MS and ask them when they have room available? Can they look it up that way, or do you need to give them a date and then they tell you yes or no ? Obviously you'd have to give them some timeframe, but could you ask if anything was available between x and y ?

Yes there have been many reports of people getting an AKV Concierge reservation 7 months out. There are only five 2BR lockoffs so depending on how many are "locked off" there might be two 2BRs, three 1BRs and three studios, or one 2BR, four 1BRs and four studios, so there are maybe 8 or 9 rooms available. I think two things have contributed to rooms being available 7 months out. First, a relatively small number of AKV owners in the early days of AKV sales and second, many AKV owners wanted a guaranteed savanna view for their first stay, something you are not guaranteed when you stay Concierge since two of the five 2BR lockoffs face the pool (the other three face the Sunset Savanna). I think booking AKV Concierge at 7 months could become more difficult in the future as the number of AKV owners increases and as some of those owners who got their first taste of Concierge decide to make it a regular thing. It's definitely worth trying to reserve it. You should call day by day as soon as your 7-month window opens.

We spent a weekend this past January in a 1BR Concierge unit. Booked on Developer points at the 7mos window. The Wanyama (?) safari/dinner package was the driving reason for the reservation and it was much enjoyed!

I tried to get a 1br villa (concierge) for Sept @ the 7 month window with my developer points.. No chance boo hoo.

When I made our reservations for this December, I specifically asked if Concierge was also available on the 5th floor, as we greatly prefer this location (read - do NOT want any 6th floor unit). MS assured me that we could stay on the 5th floor. :scared:

Really? Hmmm, yours is the first post that I have seen with this. Please let us know how it works out.

There are no DVC concierge units on the 5th floor.

I can't imagine how that could be, since the only DVC units in CL are on either side of the lobby on the 6th floor. Anything on the 5th floor is going to be a regular hotel room and not a DVC unit.

I was able to book a 1br concierge 1 month prior to our April 6th stay for 2 nights! We met and talked with a lovely couple who were not DVC members. They were not staying on the 6th floor, however they were enjoying the concierge perks. I'm not sure how that is booked but they did say they had a regular hotel type room.

The Concierge Lounge is shared by both hotel guests who booked a Concierge stay and DVC guests who booked a Concierge villa. The Concierge rooms for hotel guests are on the 4th floor. Prior to DVC taking over the 5th and 6th floors of AKL, the Concierge guests were housed on those two floors.

I asked about AKV concierge when I made our June ressies. No luck either.

I think we need a concierge lounge in every dvc property. Just a suggestion.

I've started making a reservation for friends of mine for March 09. Calling day by day on the 11 months exactly at 9am opening. Managed to get AKV concierge studio for 1st night, waitlisted for 2nd night today! Can't believe it as I couldn't have called any faster.:scared1: I've got another 7 nights to book so hoping that I have more luck.
It's a present for them and I want it to be perfect as it's their first visit to USA never mind WDW. I don't want them to have to change rooms if possible so here's hoping.:)

well good luck! zYou ahve to have a couple of phones all dialing in at the same time and not chat at all and just say your member # and tell them the date and room size. It is the only way to get concierge. If the night you were trying for was a day required to do the safari, then you can multiply that speed by 1,000. I was told is books in under 2 minutes competely full.

I called around the beginning of February for 2 SV studios at AKV for one night before we head to Universal Studios Resort for three nights. I asked to be placed on the waiting list for concierge, never thinking it would come through. I was checking the website about a week later and one room came through. Boy, was I surprised, especially because this was for July 3rd which I figure is a very, very busy time. The waitlist for the other room has not come through, nor am I holding my breath. DH and I are getting the concierge studio. My SIL and the three 16 year olds are getting the other studio.:rotfl: I am very excited to try out the new AKV as we want to add on points but unsure if we want to do it at SSR, AKV or wait for Kingdom Towers

I would never say never! Easter week 2007, we waitlisted 3 months out for two nights at BWV and we received a call about a month later with our choice of SV, PV or BV. I just hope I get as lucky for the waitlist I am starting tomorrow for Thanksgiving week!

Wow that was quick! Could it be because of spring break?

We own at SSR. I called to make a reservation for AKV at the 7 month point for three nights in May. I asked if they had a 1BR CL and MS to my surprise said yes would I like that instead. I didn't even start calling day by day. I waited until 7 months from the end of our stay. It is not a holiday, but it does span a weekend. I guess it was my lucky day. So you never know until you try. We leave a week from tomorrow. I can't wait.

I wouldn't even try to get that many nights in a row. I'm trying because I only need two!

I started my day by day reservation today for studio concierge calling exactly at 9 am and getting it. I only need the two nights though as I already booked the first part of the trip at VWL. I imagine there are quite a few of us calling.

edit: I didn't get the second night due to the MS system being down at 9 am. And them telling me it was still down at 9:15 am when I called back even though others seem to have been able to get through then to make reservations. I'm waitlisted.

Like I said, I'd never try for 9 nights in a row in concierge. No way.

We are one of the success stories. We are BWV owners and at exactly the 7 month window I called MS to book AKL Concierge for 4/28 - 5/2. I was able to get the first three nights, but not the last night which I promptly waitlisted.

Well, we are flying to Orlando on Monday and I still do not have my waitlist cleared for that last night and I kept it until 7 days prior.

We will need to switch rooms for our last night there, but I did get all of the other nights Concierge as a non-AKV owner. And I was able to schedule my Sunrise Safari for Thursday, May 1.

May you have the same good luck we had. Enjoy!
