Has Airtran made up its mind about RAC yet?

I know it is only April 2, but I was just wondering if Airtran has extended their participation in the RAC. I was also wondering if they have or will extend the service to all resorts. I know that the deluxe resorts are included, but it would be nice if the at least extended it to all the DVC resorts. Tyler, if you see this, I know you said you would let us know when you heard anything, but if SW opens more dates hopefully this week, I will need to decide on who to pick since I need a flight for Aug 26 rather quickly.

Thanks everyone.

Stacey

RAC is resort airlline checkin. It refers to the service you get when you get ready to go home and you check your bags at your Disney hotel and you get your boarding pass. From that point the next time you see your luggage is when you land at home and claim your bags. Airtran is/was in a pilot program until the end of March with the service at only the Deluxe resorts, i believe. Not all airlines participate in this. There is a sticky at the top of the Transportation board that explains it a little better and gives you the list of airlines that participate.

Hope this helps

I fly Airtran Airlines quite often and I have never had any trouble in asking a cast member at the front desk of my Disney Resort Hotel (value or premium) to print out my boarding passes.

True. But RAC is so much nicer because you can check your bags also. Then when you get to the airport, all that is left to do is go through security.
DH returned from OKW on March 25 and flew AirTran and was able to use RAC. We were told that OKW had been added to the pilot program. I returned on March 30 from OKW and flew AirTran and was told that I could not use RAC. The reason I was given was that the system was not ready to add another large carrier. I don't know whether that was a legitimate reason, but it is what I was told.
I am checking this thread every day. I am waiting to buy tickets for next November, have a good deal I can get at AirTran, but may pay extra to fly Northwest just to get RAC.

popcorn:: We will be traveling to the World this October and was planning on using Delta for our trip home, just to be able to use RAC. But we'd prefer to fly Airtran. I had not heard that they were possibly going to start participating in RAC!! how exciting!! Would love to know if anyone here's any more about this.

chris4disney,
BCV can already do RAC for AirTran under the pilot program. If the pilot is continued, you are in business. If it is not extended to other resorts, those of us at places like OKW are out of luck.

Tyler keeps the first post in this thread current

Official information will be posted there. Otherwise ask at the RAC desk when you get to your resort. Some DIS is going to be the first to participate in a pilot program, and follow up with a post. Might be with Airtran, Southwest or some other airline.

The only other information you'll get is rumors and speculation.

If anyone is travelling in April, I would think they would be able to tell us if Airtran will go permanent RAC.

I'm especially interested in knowing if POP Century will be added to the list for Airtran and RAC.

Would any of the resorts know; since, they have to handle RAC?

Just thought I would bump again since there is no news yet and it is now ten days after the pilot program was supposed to end.

I will hopefully buying my plane tickets this week or next, as soon as SW opens up more dates. I want to buy Airtran if they match SW if RAC becomes permantent and expanded to all resorts.

Just received in Allears.net newsletter:
"Magical Express Resort Airline Check-in Update: Beginning in May 2007, Air Tran will join Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Continental Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Northwest Airlines, and United Airlines/Ted, as a participant in the Resort Airline Check-in Program."

WooHoo!
And I got this in my e-mail as I was talking to AirTran on the phone to book our group for next November!!!
