DId anyone see this movie Yet? What did you think. I was getting off the train today and there was a guy there with DVDs of Harry Potter's latest movie, so I got one for 10 buck. Quality is good but didnt see the whole thing yet. What did you think of the movie.

I saw it at a special benefit showing Thursday night. It's my favorite of the 3. Faster paced and alot darker.

I do wish it had been longer to put in more story and to linger abit more on the secondary characters. But really since I liked the faster pace on this one I shouldn't be asking for it to be slowed down with other additions.

I think it was the best so far also.

I wish it was longer though. I also wish that Alphonso Cuaron was directing GOF also.
:(

the bootlegs are already out on the street?

I read that in Englad they gave the ushers infrared glasses to watch the audience during the movie, to avoid bootleggers.

It is by far and away the best of the three.

But WHY oh why did they not explain the Marauders or Harry's stag. Why?

Yes, they really screwed up in not explaining the stag....but another thing that bothered me was that they didn't cover the fact that Black (being Harry's Godfather) gave Harry official permission to go to Hogsmead. I hope the director of the next movie remembers to cover that somehow.

Count me as one of those who feel this is the best of the three. I absolutely love it and plan to see it about 20 times while still in the theater!

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't purchase the bootlegs of this movie...or any other movie for that matter. The directors, the actors, and the author of the book worked very hard to bring us this film, and it cost a lot of money to make the movie. If everybody went out and bought the ten dollar bootleg, then they wouldn't break even, let alone make a well-deserved profit.

I agree 100%.

Thats an overstatement, merchandising alone will earn them all profits

Thought it was great! Didn't expect it to follow the book but I think it did the book justice.

Maybe so, but I'd still rather see my money go to the actors, directors, producers, etc., than some thug on the street. Plus for about 5 dollars more you can get the real deal when it comes out.

I just saw the new HP movie last night. I thought it was amazing, but I am a little disappointed that it left out a lot of important things from the book.
I loved the last part of the movie and I thought it coincided with the book very well (except for the last scene where he gets the firebolt).
I am shocked that the movie didn't explain the authors of the maurauder's map well or show harry winning the quidditch cup.
The movie also didn't explain why the whomping willow was put there.
It also didn't go into detail of Snape giving Lupin potions during the full moon.

All of the actors are wonderful-I especially loved Prof Trelawney, Peter Pettigrew, and Lupin

Loved it!!!!!!!!!!!:)

RE: Peter Pettigrew (and this was something my 10 year old HP fanatic son said): Although I thought the actor who played him did very well, if Scabbers was supposed to be getting scrawny throughout the book (albeit not in the film), shouldn't the actor who played him be thin and scrawny, not pudgy???

I'm very, very sorry to say that I thought it was just OK. POA is my favorite book and I was really looking forward to this movie. I know movies are a series of scenes but I generally don't think about that when I'm watching a movie. This time, it was obviously put together by a bunch of seems and I walked away feeling like I had read a story board instead of having watched a movie. I too was disappointed that there was no explanation of the Marauders and the Stag Patronus.
I think they did the best they could to trim down the movie since the book is so long and most of it is important. But, in my eyes, I'd rather see a 3 hour Harry Potter movie than have important pieces left out.
I'll still buy the DVD whenever it comes out and try to pick up on things I didn't catch the first time.

Do you feel ok with purchasing bootlegs of newly released films? Do you think it's ethical and fair to the creators of the film? I'm just curious...I'm not likely to respond further to this because I don't want it to become a debate, but I am curious to hear your reply.

That being said I really liked the movie I PAID to see. Except I was very dissapointed in the big pieces they cut out (the map explaination, the aninigmus explanation, the patronus, and the serous order changes) HELLO Harry did not save Sirius from the dementors! It was hermione and ron he was supposed to be saving. And one of my favorite parts of the book were the arguments that Ron, Harry, and Hermione got in over Crookshanks, and the Firebolt. A definitely would have watched 30 mins more so that this could have been done right!

Post edited to avoid controversy.

I thought it was OK. It flew by, did not like the inconsistancies from the book...it seemed to be the marketing highlights. I never got the impression that the Knight Bus was a big deal in the book, but it was 10 mins in movie. And just who was that hunchback..he's not in the book. The movie was fine (if you didn't read the book, ok care about accuracy). But the FX were teriffic.

I haven't seen it yet but my daughter (age 13) saw it yesterday and just loved it.

I heard that they had a new director (or maybe producer) for this movie. Maybe that's why it's a little differently made than the previous two.
