Harry Potter Weekend crowds

We will have the EP for Saturday and Sunday. What is the best time to go to the Expo? First thing Saturday morning? Saturday afternoon or evening? Sunday morning? The kids want to see the sorting hat, maybe see some of the characters (do they do meet and greets and autographs or just see them from a stage?), and buy a shirt or something.

In the past the expo has closed at 4. Hopefully they extend it this year. The actors are not in the expo. They are appear at some of the shows. There are no scheduled m&g’s unless you are able to afford the most expensive hotel package.

The EP does not get you into the expo quicker. Only the pass that comes with a package does. The lines are usualy two-six hours to get in. Once in, you have to wait in more lines for just about everything.

Assuming it is set up the same way as last year, there will be two expos. The smaller one to the left of the Jimmy ride had things like audible recall, virtual reality, and a HP lego video game. It was less busy and even a walk in at times. I believe the Sorting Hat was a seperate line last year; you did not get to enter the expo after being sorted. It was located just outside the main expo. People waited hours for their one minute turn with the hat. It doesn’t seem like it’s worth it to me.

Some of the merchandise will be available at the main gift stores and gift stores in each HP land.

The best time to go will be Friday. Second best will be showing up to the gates at least thirty minutes early and getting in line immediately, along with everyone else.

Thanks! We won't be getting in till Friday evening, so won't be able to make it to the parks on Friday. I think we will plan to just get in line early Saturday. What does the main expo have in it? I assume they will have a schedule for the shows closer to the weekend? I looked at getting a package, but with 5 of us, it was more expensive than what we were really wanting to pay.

Would anyone willing to get me 2 bertie botts chocolate frog cards at the HP weekend please PM me. I have paypal to send $ quickly.
THANK YOU

I will give it try. May be tricky, since I have no idea what that is, but I will look and/or ask someone.

Last year was the first year there were two expos; I don't think details have been released about how many sound stages they are using this year and what is in each. The main feature of the main expo was the studio tour- which usually had a two-four hour wait once you had waited hours just to get into the building. I've never done it for that reason. Too much waiting. I had the package last year and made into the expo in about twenty minutes and the line for the tour was already over an hour long. MinaLima, Scholastic, and a few props (out in the open) were also there.

Under the FAQ's on the website it says to check back soon for a schedule. I wish they would hurry up and post it. You'd think it would have been finalized ages ago.

We randomly ended up going last year and I felt the crowds were still manageable. We were able to get pretty good seating to one of the actor Q&A panels without much effort.

Well, we may just be winging it lol. We will have a 14 and 13 year old girls and 11 year old boy. They may or may not have the patience to wait in lines. They are the HP fans so can decide what is important to see and do.

We arrive for our trip Sunday night around 7pm. We aren't interested in the Potter Celebration stuff, but were planning on going to City Walk on our arrival night. Should we expect it to be packed or do Potter crowds die down by that time?

Similarly, should we expect residual crowds the rest of the week with people extending their stays? Anyone who's been this time before that has experienced that?
