How much can I expect to spend on Wands?

I think my DH will want one and then both of my kids. But they are ages 6 & 4, so I'll want to get them the cheapest ones probably. :wizard:

Me too.I read on the internet they were like $30-250 and the highest one turns the tv on and off but I think that was just a rumor. You can go to Universal's official store online I think they will have prices.

$29.95. If you have a preferred-or-higher annual pass, you can get a 10% discount.

So...they are simply resin, and they can and will break if dropped in just the right way. You might consider holding off on a proper wand for the littler one b/c of that.

If you're husband's at all on the Slytherin's side, and if you're driving to Orlando or have very big luggage to check, he might want to ask to see Lucius's walking stick (not sure which store this is at, so ask around). It's as tall as a 6 year old, pretty much, and the handle contains Lucius's wand. It's simply gorgeous, in a REALLY creepy, sharp-toothed snake-fang sort of way. (and you should see Narcissa Malfoy's creepy wand!)

Can't wait to see these! They sound awesome!!

If I had a 6 and 4 yr old, I think I'd do the "dis trick/tip" and pre buy a Harry Potter plastic wand (they are popular around Halloween here and are around $10 - some do have lights in them too!) I'd hide it, and the day you go to Universal, I'd pop them out - maybe add a letter "Look you're going to WWoHP!" (the Dis disigners have letters to give to kids prior to CRT) and give those wands prior to seeing the $30 wands....

Thanks for the info, yeah, maybe the kids will skip the whole wand thing. But DH will want one for sure. LOL!

The wands actually say on the box that they are collectibles, NOT toys. AAA card gets you discount off the $30, but at those prices I don't think I'd buy one for a small child since they are easily breakable.

I bought a wand for myself and my 11 year old nephew last year. The day after we got them he ended up breaking his (it was the Elder wand for Potter fans) by dropping it on concrete. He brought it back to Universal and they replaced it with him having no receipt. They also told him they have a lifetime warranty so he could always ome back and get it replaced if he broke it again. Not sure if that's an "official" policy, but I can't see Universal ever not honoring that, especially on the 12 you can only buy through Universal.

That wand really exists, I have it. It's not licensed HP merchandise though, so not sure if they do sell them at IoA. It's basically a fancy programmable remote control. Looks quite nice.

Hey, that's pretty cool.

DS dropped his and merely nicked the end, but it was a Ron Weasley wand and it almost seemed like it made it MORE perfect for Ron. But it's good to know that if he had broken it they would have helped out.

Most of the wands you'll see are $30-$40.

My DD is seven and loves hers, it's nice to have a souvenir that isn't a stuffed animal. ;) I can see why you might want to skip the expense for the little ones though, especially if they'll be used more for "sword fights" than souvenirs.

:laughing::thumbsup2

I was flying with only a carry on bag, the boxes are rather long and I was afraid they wouldn't fit. I decided to wait and order one online, if I still wanted one when I got home. I bought a Death Eater shirt at the park instead, much easier to fit in my suitcase. Despite being a Slytherin hiding out in Ravenclaw, I'd be upset if I damaged the wand or the box trying to get it home - even if it was a Weasely wand. :laughing:

Still thinking about a wand though . . . but I haven't decided which one I want just yet. ;)

I spent $29.95 on Hermione's wand for my 8 yr old this week. They all say "collectors item not a toy"
