Harry Potter Theme Park

I hope they dont change Duelling Dragons to harry potter theme. I liked harry potter to begin with, but now? I dont think its worth its own bit! Especially not Duelling Dragons, they should leave that. If theyre gonna do its own land in Islands of Adventure, Id say build a little roller coaster and a few little rides!

me too ! I love dueling dragons if they move it or something i'd be sad

I just got off of mugglenet.com:surfweb: and I saw the planes for the theempark and It was really cool!:thumbsup2 I'm a member on the sight and I love it! On the today show :happytv: they revieled the cover of the book, (a couple months ago) as much as I don't like orange I thought the cover raiting was 5/5!

HARRY POTTER ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

Ok I honestly think that devoting a whole park to Harry Potter would be a pretty great idea. . .then again I'm an HP geek. There's supposed to be different landmarks from all 7 books along with meet and greets and rides. There is NO WAY people wouldn't go if they were and avid HP fan. duh!:wizard:

Are you refering to me? Lol. My mom told me when the park opens (in like 2010) we would make a vacation of it and go down there. I am so excited! It should be great!:woohoo:

Why do people keep calling this a theme park. It's not a theme park. It's going to be an Island at Islands of Adventure. That's like calling Adventureland or Frontierland a theme park, when in reality they are just lands and the Magic Kingdom is the theme park. Sorry just had to vent. lol

I'm not sure what I think of It. Of course I adore Harry Potter or obsessive I call it, but I would have to see how it was. I think it's a great idea if they do it right. But I don't want people dressed up like the characters running around....I think it would be bad. I would love to go there and I think Hogsmeade looks pretty awesome, but I want to know how exactly they are planning Hogwarts, not exactly sure how it will be. I'm really excited, but I'm not getting my hopes up for something remarkable unless I see it...then I will decide.

Yeah, I think it's a pretty good idea. As long as it's not some cheap rendition, though. I just hope they do it right. I'm really excited though. But you'll probably hear about it from me if they don't do it right. Again, I'm an obsessive fan...

Eww. I hate HP. But I guess there are enough people out there that are obsessed with it to make it into it's own park. But what will happen when the Harry Potter fad is over. It can't last forever. After all the books are done and all the movies are over, what's next? Fifty years from now, kids won't even know who Harry Potter is or was. It's fine for right now, but think about further down the road. It's a good idea, but in the long run, it will just be a waste of money.

I grew up and started reading Artemis Fowl.

This has to be said yet again..IT'S NOT A THEMEPARK! It's a SECTION of an existing theme park, Islands of Adventure. It will be slightly larger than the other lands. I'm still on the fence about this idea..after the last book comes out, interest will dramatically decline, evin with those trashy movies. I can guarantee that less than 10 years from now, the HP juggernaut will slow WAY down. It's funny how these fads come and go...remember how Nsync had millions of fans a few years ago. They were the most popular, most successful group around. When it ended with the breakup, interest declined because there would neve be anything new. Now, you have got JT, who isn't as universally loved as he was during Nsync. HP sort of relates.

Sounds cool. I would be interested in seeing it one day, but I'd much rather go to Disney.

I'd honestly like to wait and see how this turns out before I say anything about it. I think that if they do it right and have the shops and school really close to the way they are in the books and don't make them appear to be a cheap, poorly put together tourist attraction it could go far.

For all anyone knows, the Harry Potter fad could stick around for years. I mean, look at Star Wars. I hate those movies with a burning passion, and yet there are STILL several fans out there that love it with all their hearts. Not to mention it's been around for quite a long time. To be competely honest, I thought the 'fad' would die off after the first few books came out. I had never heard of there being so many obsessive fans over a BOOK...until I starting seeing Harry Potter posters go up all over my middle school and heard people talking about it all the time. That was when I started getting curious about it, bought the first one at a book fair, and got hooked.

So! I think that if this 'Island' is made the way it needs to be and the fans of HP stay fans (and I'm talking about the books here, not the movies), it could be extremely successful. Don't judge it this early on, because you never know. But I'm still reserving my true opinion on this until I see the actual attraction, because if they don't do it right it will go down the drain fast.

strange... i was just about to post about this since i hadn't seen it on here then i get on the DIS again and it's on here :p

it sounds interesting :) i agree about it only being a land. I've heard it's going to be set in the town of Hogsmeade.

That sounds really cool and it's a great idea!!

i can't wait for it to be finished. That's part of the reason we are going to Disney next year in November.

OMG I totally agree. I mean you took the words right out of my mouth:worship:!! I am the hugest of fan for the HP. And if it is almost exactly alike I will stay there for the rest of my life!:rotfl2: :cloud9:. But if not I think I will write a letter to universal and tell them that they just wasted a lot of money when they could have put something in that people wouldn't care if it's cheezy. JK

I just read that the construction is underway on the "World of Harry Potter." I can't wait to get an opening date - we were planning to visit Orlando/Disney next year, I'd make HP a priority. The kids have never been to Universal, so everything will be new.

I read that they're "rebranding" some of the existing rides, like Dueling Dragons and the Flying Unicorn. (Source: Jim Hill's site) That makes sense and will keep the construction costs down.

Jo Rowling wrote a mini-movie that the movie stars are recording for the new "land." Given her involvement and attention to detail, plus the fact that she was impressed that Universal appeased Dr. Seuss's widow's demands for that land, I think HP fans will be satisfied. It won't be "real" but it'll be satisfying and exciting!

Can't wait! Eternal Vigilence!

ETA: When the current HP fans get old, they'll still take their kids to this attraction and try to coax them into reading the books/watching the movies. If they fail, it'll be like "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" for non-readers, lol.
