Harry Potter Theme Park coming!

You wouldn't happen to be a Disney employee who is worried about the impact HP/Universal is going to have on Disney? ;) Only reason I can see for getting so upset about a post about Universal on a Disney planning board is that the person doesn't want the Disney folk to see it. :wizard:

It is on all the major news networks - just saw it on the Today show - so it will be common knowledge before long.

Congratulations to Universal - they will do such an awesome job. And from what I read on the post on the CB, they have hired the academy award winning set directors from the movies to assure authenticity.

I can't wait. As soon as opening day is announced, I will be on the phone to make my Universal reservations!!!

Time to get myself in trouble with the mods - why on earth was this thread moved? Several posters have already stated that they would not have known about this topic if it had not been posted on the theme parks attractions and strategies board. Threads complaining about US/IOA are often started on that board and not moved. Just trying to understand why an informative thread like this is moved to a board where we already know about this announcement.

It was moved for the simple fact that the Theme Parks board is for information regarding Walt Disney World. This is a topic on Universal and belongs on the UNiversal forum. With as many users and as many posts as these boards get per day, it's important to keep things on topic so people that are looking for information for their Disney trip can find it.

Further, while this is being announced today - the thing isn't scheduled to open until 2009. It's certainly not anything lost if someone doesn't know about it today.

Thanks, SnackyStacky! We are always eager to welcome new members to our board, especially since many did not even know this board existed. :)

There's a thread in the podcast forum that hasn't been moved so it can be found outside of the Universal Forum

Your logic would make sense if threads such as this had been moved:

The mods often allow threads critical of US/IOA to remain on the theme parks board but seem to have been quick to remove this thread that is informative about future changes to the park.

The mods don't always see every thread. It's like the traffic cop that catches you speeding but didn't see the other guy who was speeding 10 minutes before you.

If you see a thread that you believe needs to be moved, then just click on "report this post". If someone posted a thread on the Haunted Mansion being refurbished on this board, we'd move it if we saw it.

There are threads on Harry Potter on the Rumors Board, the UK Boards, and the Community board. They just don't belong on the Disney themepark planning board.

The information is also all over the media so someone would have to be living in a bubble to not hear about this announcement within the next few days. Hopefully, we will get new members on our board who are excited about the ride.

I'm not going to debate this point with you. We're volunteers, we're not paid - we do this because we enjoy doing it. I moved this one because someone reported it. I cannot, nor have I ever claimed to be able to, see or read each and every post on the boards.

As I said - if you see something you feel is inappropriate - report it. If it warrants action, the action will be taken.
