Got back about an hour ago from seeing the new movie!
It was fun and fast paced. I loved the screaming mandrakes!
It made me cry to see Dumbledore(Richard Harris's wonderful
portrayal) and realize that someone else will now be playing
that character. :(
The theatre exploded in cheers and applause several times.
It was really fun! We're going again on Sunday so DH can
see it. He's done all the reading aloud to both DS and I
for two rounds of each book so he'll love it!
Dobby was great and Lucius Malfoy is lucious! lol IMHO
I'm a sucker for a long haired blonde with a glint in his
eye. Great film-go see it. I expected lots more scary parts
than are in it after all the hype. There were two scenes that
young kids(and some adults) could be creeped out by. Not
bad for 2 hours and 47 minutes.

I'm looking forward to seeing this film. Is it better than the first one?

I can't wait to see it! I teach a children's acting class and I am taking them (all 15 of them) to see it on Sunday night. They are really excited about it and so am I!

Better than the first? Wow, I loved the first and I love
this one too. The children's characters are more developed
and confident. The first introduced all the major characters
and I loved that. This one is much faster moving and grittier
which was appealing. I wish we'd had more time at the
Weasley's house-it was cute.

Thanks for the info. DH & I are going at 8:30 tonight. I was just telling DH that the guy with the long blond hair had to be Lucius Malfoy. I saw him on a preview today for the 1st time. I couldn't figure out who else it might be. Glad you thought he was cute!

Poohstyx

I'm looking forward to it! I was going to go to the first showing tomorrow, but have to work instead :( I'm going to try for a late night show tomorrow (if not too tired) or the first showing Sunday (Between church, breakfast, and the NFL, I'm hoping to beat the crowds by going early ;) )

We're trying to hold out until Thanksgiving to see it (its a tradition in our family to see a movie on Thanksgiving night). However, I don't know that any of us can wait that long.

I think I will probably cry when I see Richard Harris too. I got a little misty eyed when I saw him in the preview the other day.

We saw it this afternoon. It was awesome!!! :bounce: :bounce:
My boys absolutely LOVED it. Lots of action, and even better than the first movie!
Dobby is just so cute and funny. :teeth:
I too was sad seeing Richard Harris and knowing he will no longer be Dumbledore. :( :(

I thought it was better than the first.

Yippee!!!! DH and I are taking DD to see this first thing tomorrow morning. Great to hear the postive review! :)

Just back too and I agree with everything already posted. I just finished re-reading the book and was amazed at how much was included in this movie.
I was a bit nervous, especially with DD, although she's soon to be 8 and a huge HP fan, because this is a much darker story. The movie wasn't as creepy as I imagined it to be and even the scary stuff was well done.
I'll join the chorus of Richard Harris fans who were sad to watch him knowing he won't be Dumbledore again. I loved Lockhart, much more than his actual character in the book...he was played wonderfully.
When it ended I couldn't believe how fast it went...and I was sad because I didn't want to leave Hogwarts so soon.

I thought the first movie was good but a little slow moving. I'm glad to know this one moves a little better, and I can't wait to see it :)

Snoops, we usually see a movie on Thanksgiving too!

Have to agree, Harry Potter was great! I forgot how much I missed Hogwarts and everyone in it until I heard the beginning of the theme song. I will definitely miss Richard Harris as Dumbledore.

What a wonderful movie!!!!!!!!!! Love it love it love it!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hated that it ended though. Can't believe we have to wait a year for the next one.:(

I'm so glad to hear these good reviews! Makes me even more excited about our plans to go see it tomorrow. :)

Just got back, the movie was EXCELLENT!!!! I'm sure we'll be going to see it again very soon.

I can't for the DVD to come out.
