Harry. Obviously Hermione knows more spells but Harry knows how to use them better.

I think however, without Hermione, Harry wouldn't have defeated Voldemort.... she's so smart and so essential to him.

I voted Hermione. Harry has more raw magic, Hermione knows more spells, but in the end, I think Harry would be more tripped up by fighting a friend, while Hermione would manage to be detached. ("Neville, I'm really, really sorry about this.")

I'd say the fight goes to Hermione. The only reason that Harry might be a contender is because he's not that afraid of the bad guys, whereas we haven't seen Hermione really fight Death Eaters. But if only going against friends, Hermione has it in the bag. She knows more spells, can counter spells easily, and all that jazz.

Hermione is a lot sneakier than Harry, remember in the Order of the Phoenix what she did to Delore Umbridge convinced her to go out to the forbidden forest right up to the Centeurs, and let her offend them so much she was taken prisoner by them.

Harry has more wizard "street smarts" and thinks better on his feet. He works on instinct. In a "act don't think" situation, that works better for you than lots of book smarts.

Hermione is more book-smart and familiar with theory.

Harry is much more practical and active in magic.

Just finished rereading Deathly Hallows. had Hermioned not been around, Harry wouldn't have made it past book One. Ron said it best in the movie..."We wouldn't last 5 minutes out there without her".

Harry has been very LUCKY in the books. So he'd probably win by, as McGonagal once put it, "By sheer dumb luck!"

Harry (IMO). As these characters have been written, Harry is a great wizard who is able to accomplish things using only instinct that everyone else has to learn in a book or from others (usually Harry).

Yes, Harry had help, and lots of it, but Harry is the hero. Harry defeats any other figure in any of the books. That's the way his character was written.

If I was pulling for anyone, it would be one of the Weasleys over either Harry or Hermione. I just connected with them more - they seemed more real to me.

Heromine is book smart, Harry is practical smart. He taught Heromine everything she knows in his Defense Against the Black Arts classes.

So I would say Harry.

Hermione could win if she were unencumbered by empathy and morality. Harry would win because he rates highly in narcissism and impulsiveness.

In a duel Hermione would inevitably hold back at the crucial moment whereas Harry would not.

I came to the same final conclusion, but for a different reason. I think Hermione is too likely to analyze a situation where Harry will act on instinct.
