Hi!

I have a question about Harry Potter book 5. Is the majority of the book as scary as chapters 1-8? Yesterday I read up through the part where Harry has his trial. But then I had really scary nightmares all last night, evidently related to the dementors.

I am 41 years old, and had no problems with books 1-4.

Does Book 5 lighten up immediately after the trial? If not, I don't think I want to read the rest of the book, because I don't want to have any more nightmares!

I guess I better stick with stories about Mickey Mouse! ;)

Well, it is pretty dark all the way through. I don't want to spoil anything but Dolorus Umbridge plays a big role and she is a nasty woman. There are some scenes in the Dark Forest and the ending especially is scary/sad/frightening. However, it is an excellent book and well worth the read!

I was scared, but it's well worth the read [I'm 14] Some parts aren't as scary as others. I won't give any of it away, I cried and I was a bit frightened but I loved the book my second favorite of the series.

It is much darker than the rest of the books, but I have to rank it and Prisoner as my two favorites.

I had a hard time putting 5 down. I'd given it to DH as a gift and I was sneaking reads when he wasn't around...it was tough!

I thought "Chamber" was scarier and more of the horror type genre. That snake gave me the willies. "Order" is more of a psychological thing and lots o' angst. It doesn't not get light and sunny. I think people who liked "Prisioner" seem to like this one a lot too. It's more character driven.

Thank you for the reviews! I think I will read it ... but maybe wait until after the holidays! :)

maybe just read during the day...I know for the 4th one I read till
3 in the morning and was sooooooooo creeped out!...had nightmares that night!(or morning!)...I haven't started the 5th one...wanted to review the 4th again just to freshen the characters in my memory...etc...but I think I will read only during daylight!

I read it in about a week[the first week it was out I pre-ordered] That and Prisoner are my favorites. I sat at the kitchen table and read it all day and night. I had a very very hard time putting it down. I cried at the end.
