Hello -

Just me and my daughter are taking a day from Disney to go to Universal - mid Aug. she is 1000% into HP and I don’t think has a ton of interest in the other rides. Do you think the VIP tour is worth it? It’s 2x the cost of the express pass, but only 2 of us and being there a day was thinking it might be worth it. Concerned though if others in the group want to spend time outside of HP, or just being rushed around vs soaking in the HP stuff. Thanks!

my 2-cents - if HP is really your only interest, I wouldn't. This way you can spent your time exactly how you want - as much or as little in any given spot, repeating experiences as you want. If you're going to do the interactive wand stuff, I think it would be harder with the tour.

Thanks that is very helpful. Think I should do the express pass, going Aug 19 or 20, which will be crowded but maybe not crazy? Would you wait and see in the express pass or just get it in advance?

Thanks again!

personally i always think its worth it - but then we always stay onsite.

in HP you've only got the 3 rides + train.
if you've never been, you'll want to experience the queues. so maybe not.
if you've been and you want to ride as much as possible, probably.

if you want to do as much outside of the HP once you're done there - or in between - then probably.

be sure to go back to both areas in the dark - they look awesome and its a different feel than during the day.

Would you be doing the private or public vip tour?
The public tour would include rides in the park you are doing the tour.

You would take in the Potter section but still would be doing other sections in the park.
I looked at the website and the public tour starts out at $189 pp.
The express pass would be a cheaper way to go than a tour.

Hi I did the non-private VIP tour last summer. We really enjoyed it but we did for the two parks and it was an 8 hour long day. We only spent a small time in both HP worlds like maybe an hour. If you want to do a VIP tour you would have to do the private one. The private one will do whatever you want for the day. The non-private VIP tour has about 12 people to the group and you kind of do what majority wants. We were lucky and had no little kids ( we have teens) My group was in agreement of what we wanted to do. I have a trip report on it if you want to read it just let me know!

The express pass could be worth it and be a lot cheaper.
