'Harry Potter and the Perpetual Breakdown'

Because some people will ALWAYS feel the need to promote their preference or favorite as the ONLY choice rather than just enjoying them both in different ways. We've seen it with Microsoft and Apple, IOS and Android, Playstation, Wii and Xbox, and we see it with Disney and Universal. Why they think one has to "win" and the other "lose" in some peoples' mind is beyond my rational comprehension.

Ultimately, any Disney fan should WANT Universal to do well and be successful. We should want Busch Gardens, Legoland and Sea World to get into the mix. Why has Disney played it safe and been boring... because they can. Their attendance hasn't been affected. They hadn't really lost thunder or press until more recently with Harry Potter. They had no incentive.

Disney is the leader in Orlando. They start to move when they feel at least a little perceived pressure. None of those parks will ever out perform the Magic Kingdom or Epcot. But they may beat DAK and DHS... which is a threat to Disney's strategy of long term on property stays. They knew DAK was hurting some in reputation and attendance (not terrible but not Epcot or MK) and are building Pandora (for better or for worse... its a risk they took to improve the park and ultimately attendance). MK was losing some press spotlight, so they did the Fantasyland expansion. Even more important, they look to be improving the experience in the parks with the bus circle expansion, hub expansion, moving Frozen to a fast pass meet and greet, etc. Disney Springs is clearly a shot at City Walk and plays into the long stay strategy.

The best thing that could happen for those of us wanting some TLC to DHS will be IOA or Universal Studios passing DHS in yearly attendance (or both). I think THAT gets management to move quicker on Star Wars or Pixar. DHS kind of sucks now... When TSM is your marquee attraction... that's a problem.

Ultimately, the better the other parks do, the more likely we see the Disney beast awakened... and ultimately, the better they do, the better it is for Orlando visitors.

Sorry... rant over.

Ahhh....haste makes waste. With seven shops and only one simulated ride, it's bad show for Universal. Gotta hand it to Disney for constructing high quality attractions that can actually work. Not to mention, the monorail and all other Disney park transportation is completely free for all guests visiting the parks....unlike Hogwarts Express. Also, Disney's fastpasses are free and available to anyone visiting Disney parks-not just onsite hotel guests or those who opt to purchase them for an additional fee. This is only part of what sets Disney light-years apart from the competition. Slow and steady wins the race. :thumbsup2

this makes absolutely no sense. If I ride the monorail from MK to EPCOT I need a park hopper in order to go to both parks. Its the same thing with Universal's park to park ticket. I just don't understand why it has to be one is better than the other. Instead of 2 amazing theme parks.

Yawn. Why anyone would take offense and get all snippy about a news article and/or perhaps my unabashed affinity toward Disney World on a Disney forum is well beyond my comprehension. Especially, since said folk were quite eager to engage in the "Comcast is going to cream Disney" thread. Why didn't they put their tired, righteous, holier than thou rant over there-----that is, before they killed the thread? :confused3

One more thing, Disney Springs is not in response to City Walk. It is in response to the recent influx of Brazilian shoppers traveling to the US. President Obama has eased certain travel restrictions for Brazilians who seek to shop and vacation in Florida and Disney is hoping to seize a sizable portion of the cash flow that would otherwise go to the malls and outlet stores. :thumbsup2

I beleive Rumor Rocks was clearly talking about WDW.

One new thing about UNI is higher and higher charges for more and more things.

Yes. Yes. Dear Heavens, yes. Clearly, that's what I was talking about. And, thank you Good Sir. :thumbsup2

I never got a chance to bash anyone in the Comcast Cream thread. That's too bad. Keep up the good work!:thumbsup2 yawn

Well, it looks like "Escape From Gringotts" has taken on a new meaning, in that one must literally escape or be "rescued" from this ride. I do feel bad for those guys. I hope Universal can figure out how to fix this debacle soon, if only for the fans. :thumbsup2

Should we have Universal just go ahead and fix the Yeti while they're at it? :confused3

Nah.... I'm pretty sure that won't be necessary. Universal already has their hands full tending to a sick dragon among other pressing matters. Poor baby, was it too much pasta? I hope she's feeling better by now. :thumbsup2

Besides, Disney doesn't have to evacuate guests every ten minutes from Expedition Everest because of Disco Betty. :thumbsup2

I can't fathom how disappointing this must have been for this lady. :sad2:

Really the dragon statue with the built in flame thrower is broken too?... WTH, this should be simple...fill up the gas tank.

It sounds like the Yeti was amazing, I would love to see it at full glory... although my understanding about fixing it, is it would require major deconstruction of the mountain... however in the meantime I will still ride and enjoy Expedition Everest

I can't fathom how disappointing this must have been for this lady. :sad2:

First off... I just could not fathom waiting 5 hours for a 3-4 minute ride... I better get foreplay, dinner and dessert (and all the dishes cleaned) for that... Heck, even an hour is pushing my limit, I just go ride something else when the waits are too long. I could not begin to imagine how pissy I would be if I waited those 5+ hours...dedicated half my park day... at least $50....only to have it not run at the end of those 5 hours :furious::scared1::faint:

I don't plan on getting to Florida again until NYE 2015/2016... we are hoping to get in a day at Universal after our cruise... hopefully by then the DA bugs will be fixed... and the waits reasonable.

I don't think a 5 hour wait for ride (Universal) is fantastic nor is a 5 hour wait for a meet and greet (Disney) Neither park area is perfect.

And if think Gringotts breaking down constantly is bad. You should have been at Disney when Test Track opened. It broke down all the time.

It's a new ride cut them some slack.

Or I could just hijack the thread with all the great reviews that are posted. They far outnumber the negative. ;)

Disney sets the prices. Universal frequently matches price increases for parking, admission etc.

You can still book one of the 3 Universal deluxe hotels for not much more then a Disney moderate. You can book the newest Universal hotel for not much more then the cost of a Disney value.

I find this rather humorous. The Orlando Informer website was begging on twitter for more positive reviews for Escape from Gringotts after his site was hit with several negative reviews

https://twitter.com/***************/status/491582192888590336

On his site the ride rated around 3.5 stars before his begging brought supposed 5 star reviews posted and now he is boasting the ride now rates 4 out of 5 stars.

nice objectivity there.....too funny

Orlando Informer is a joke and most people know it. That's part of the reason you got all those ****** in the link. You aren't supposed to link them here. :rolleyes1

Here I was thinking you had me on ignore. I come to find out that you dont and it warms my heart.

I linked to twitter. Not to the Informer website. Please note that distinction. If you could let me know when I am not supposed to link to twitter, please notify me. I would appreciate it, my friend.

But your deflection from the topic does not discount the fact that there are plenty of negative reviews out there about Gringotts even among the most ardent HP fans.

Now that more I formation is coming in about Uni, from new guests about problems of running a bigger operation is coming to light.

Prices are going up as others above confirmed, maybe not as much as Disney, but getting up there.

Guests are commenting more and more on lines and the over use of video screen in attractions.. Hell of course you can build faster and cheap when you use many video screens instead of themed scenes.

Subbing box cars and a very poorly done mock up of a steam engine for real trains. then add the issues of ride breakdowns which are being reported more and more by guests who are questioning the over the top positive reviews on the bus.

Yep. There are some negative reviews, no doubt about it. The fact that there are far more positive reviews than negative hold it's own merit. Hopefully they have it figured out by the time we get there.

I appreciate that. Disboard software is setup not to allow links to show up at all if you were to link to the aforementioned website but they do not do that with Twitter as they could if they did not want people linking to it. When I see ******* show up in place of twitter, i will be sure to take note. But I do thank you for the kind advice.

It will be interesting to see how those reviews hold up over time. It takes a tremendous undertaking and dedication of time most days to experience Gringotts at this time. Often times, it is only the most ardent HP fans that will be willing to make that time commitment. Therefore, the reviews would logically skew to more gushing fans and positive reports.

It is telling though to read reviews from acknowledged HP fanboys/girls that say the ride is a disappointment.

It is becoming more apparent though that the opening of the attraction was rushed because Universal wanted it to be up during the summer season.

Hopefully it will be fixed by your visit so you wont have to be evac'ed off the ride and you are not literally waiting for your Escape from Gringotts"
