Warner Brothers has just announced that Half-Blood Prince will be delayed. The film will instead be released on July 19th, 2009. From the press release:

In making the announcement, Mr. Horn stated, “Our reasons for shifting ‘Half-Blood Prince’ to summer are twofold: we know the summer season is an ideal window for a family tent pole release, as proven by the success of our last Harry Potter film, which is the second-highest grossing film in the franchise, behind only the first installment. Additionally, like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers’ strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films—changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of. We agreed the best strategy was to move ‘Half-Blood Prince’ to July, where it perfectly fills the gap for a major tent pole release for mid-summer.”

if they are looking at this from a money standpoint then they obviously don't care much about fans of harry potter.
i'm sure we would all like to see it as soon as possible.
this is the kind of stuff that annoys me to no end.

The November weekend is ITS Conference which means that I'd miss opening day and I have NEVER missed an opening day for Harry Potter. I freaked out and decided not to go to ITS just so I wouldn't miss HP. I'm psyched I can go now.

Atleast now we will have things to look forward too for a longer amount of time. Like...the 7th movie will come out later...meaning we will have more time to go "ZOMG YAY! NEW MOVIE!" Rather then...you know...it coming out sooner and us being all *sniffles* "Now Harry Potter really IS over!" *goes off in bedroom to morn*

Sure, it will happen eventually...but then! The Harry Potter park thing will be open and we can spazz about how awesome it is (which it better be, or I will seriously harm Universal. *gets pitchfork ready* ).
