Harrah Rinco - Vegas?

Ok, questions- anyone been to Harrah Rinco Hotel/Casino? If so tell me all about it! Second question- which airport is closest to it & approx. how long is the drive to hotel. Last question- Thinking about driving to Vegas from there, how long of a drive is it? Are there things along the way or is it a long boring trip?

The drive to vegas can be boring. Its been a while since I walked into harrahs in reno. Its an older casino. I am not sure how far the airport is from there. You can google that and find out.

From the Reno/Tahoe Airport to downtown where Harrah's is is quick 10-15 minutes.

However all the casinos are kind of old and beat up, particularily compared to Las Vegas where competion has driven the standards up and there is lots of variety. If you are going to Reno, I would aim for a better hotel rather than a classic hotel casino.

Vegas is about 5-7 seven hours away. 5 because you can drive a little faster than the speed limit if so inclined.

But Vegas is a great experience. Reno not much better than going to Detroit, or better than Biloxi.

I understand.

Rincon is a little out of the ways. So from the SD airport probably about an hour drive. 40 freeway 20 highway. I've driven past but never stopped there.

It's about 4 hours to LV from north San Diego County.


Is there a reason why you would travel so far to go to an Indian Casino?

Skiing- to answer your question- DH gets comped at Harrahs, he has limited vac time so we try to check out other places without missing going to Vegas so I try to find someplace we can "piggyback" Vegas off of... Last year did Laughlin (boring!!) but he wants to go back again for a few days before we go to Vegas, so I'm trying to find an option that isn't too far or requires spending a lot more time in the airport- sometimes for an hour flight it takes 4 hrs in the airport & if you get delayed etc... so trying to make us both happy (me, stuff to do) Do you know if there is an airport closer to Rincon?

I think the closest airport is San Diego (SAN). Like I said about an hour away, though add an hour or hour and a half if rush hour. There are lot of small airports, but nothings that Delta or American fly to.

Though a nice thing about SAN is it's a bit small and simple. Granted it's busy but not like a major hub. It doesn't have many through flights, so you don't have people scrambling around making connections. It's also simple to get on and off the freeway to it.

If you didn't like Laughlin I'm not sure you will like Rincon. It's kind of in the middle of no where. Surround by desert mountains and scattered farms. It is about 30 minutes from the wonderful San Diego Safari Park(formerly known as the SD Wild Animal Park). And I've taken a day trip to see the telescope at the observatory on Palomar Mountain. I would guess that is about 20 minutes away. Other than that at least Laughlin has muliple casinos and the river to look at.

Skiiing- Yeah I am starting to think Laughlin might be the way to go, at least it's within driving distance (1hr) from Vegas, so we don't have to waste another entire day at the airport. Seems like there is not much to do around any other place but maybe I'm just so spoiled with all the activity in Vegas, just wish there was a show or something at least for at night when we visit these other casinos!! or a Mall within a reasonable distance...
