When I donated hair to Locks of Love, you did not need to go to a participating shop. There are instructions and a form that you can print out from the website. Take a ziploc with you to store the hair in and have a band for the top and bottom of the ponytail and you will be all set. All of the other details are on the site. A friend cut my hair for me a few years ago and I just followed the info on the website and sent it directly to them.
