Just wondering how good of a first cut you get here. My DD will be a month shy of 4 when we are there. We are thinking about having her first haircut (yes first). Any first hand knowledge?

My son got his first haircut at 18 months there. I still say it was the best haircut he has ever had! They didn't make him look too "old" which was my concern-- just trimmed it up. Also, they did such a good job making him comfortable. They played all kinds of games with stickers & toys so he didn't get upset. Your daughter will probably naturally do better at age 4, but it's still nice to know that they know how to be sensitive to first haircuts there. Oh & the price is right--$18 and you get a bunch of first haircut souvenirs (& a million photo ops:)

We had a great experience with our 17 mo twin girls! They basically got trims, one got bangs... much needed!!! It was worth. the price for sure--tons of stickers and toys, our kids didn't even seem to notice anything was happening to their hair, and they loooved looking at themselves in the Mickey ears in the hand mirror ;)

Had my DS first done at 7 months. It was a fantastic experience and granted awesome photos!!! I will always recommend this to anyone!!

ohhhh! they wrap up the cut hair in a pouch and they get a certificate of bravery!

Last May my younger DD got her 1st haircut about 5 days before her 4th birthday. She got a lock of hair, certificate, 1st haircut mouse ears, tons of stickers and pixie dust.

Thanks for the feedback. My DW is nervous about this cut. (Her babies getting old). All this information helps.

My son had his curls cut here for the first time and miss Diane did a great job, both with him and the cut. Afterwards he got 'my first haircut' Mickey ears and everyone made a big fuss of him, especially Pirate Goofy. We love to look at the photos now. It was really special.

My daughter was 21 months old when she had her first haircut there and it was awesome. She received a cute haircut and I will never forget the experience. We still have the mickey ears, certificate and lock of hair they gave us.

We had a great first haircut experience. The barbers there are very experienced, probably more experienced than your hairstylist/barber at home. I imagine it is a tough job to get.

If you are still uneasy, have them do a minor little trim of the ends. Don't ask for bangs, layers, anything fancy, etc.

we do it every year for my son. He's 4 now and May will be the 3rd time he's had one.
He asked specifically if we could do it this time, so I guess he really enjoys it.

Get a rez near noon and you may see some entertainment ;)

OP - thanks for starting this thread. Heading down with my niece (5) and 2 nephews (7) in Oct. Believe it or not my DNie has never had a hair cut so planning on doing this while we're down there. I have some questions for the experts...how long does it typically take? Did you make reservations in advance? How many chairs do they have? Thinking about letting my DNe get their hair cut too b/c I think they'd have fun getting paint and stuff in their hair. Would want all 3 of them done at the same time tho.

Btw we will get both kids another haircut there this year. They gave my girls better cuts for much less than what we get at home. They also put their hair into cute pony or pigtails.

1) depends on how much is getting cut.
2) yes you will need ADRs
3) they have 3 chairs. It small in there size of a bedroom

They don't have sinks, they only have a squirt bottle to wet hair. You'll need to bring cash for tips, their receipts don't have a tip line. Also someone mention color they no longer do this. My profile pic is my granddaughter's ponytails that they did for her ($5) She has thin hair and this style suited her.

Thanks for the feedback. My DW is on the phone now making a reservation.

My 4 y/o had his hair cut by the older male there and it was an absolutely horrible haircut! lol I mean the experience was fun and the photos are cute but I really regretted it right afterwards. He had a shaggy surfer cut and I asked him to clean it up in the back and leave the bangs longer. It was crooked, long jagged pieces of hair...etc.... had to have it fixed up when we got home.

YMMV though!
