How long will a "first haircut" take? And will we have to wait past our reservation time?? Just trying to figure out when is the best time for a reservation!

1- Half hour, give or take.

2- Maybe.

I've been wondering this too. Just trying to figure out if it's worth it to use that precious park time for that

I think it depends on the child. My son's first haircut only took about 10 minutes, but he really only had a few long pieces to cut off. They were definitely late. We got there and there were two CMs on, one was taking the apts in order that we got there and one was taking walk ins. It was back in 2011 though, shortly after they started taking reservations. Hopefully they've ironed out the details better now.

Bringing second DS in a few months for his first haircut. It's worth it to me to give up the park time for such a special experience. The CMs were wonderful and it was the best haircut experience we've had.

I just have this to add -
Back in 1999,when our son was 8,we found the barbershop by accident. We walked in to check it out and our son was asked if he'd like a haircut. He sort of really needed one, so we all said sure, go for it!
Well, they came out with these huge pair of scissors and DS didn't know whether to laugh or get scared. But they were exchanged for real ones and as he was getting a real haircut, the quartet came out and serenaded him for the whole time. To this day, at age 23,DS still refers to that as the best moment of his whole trip. In this huge park, filled with hundreds of people, for a moment in time, he felt like he was the most special person there. I still get teary eyed when I think of the look on his face -a true Magic of Disney moment.:cloud9:

I've been there twice. Just had my dd's first haircut there two weeks ago. Also had older dd's first haircut there 2 years ago.

Both times we had to wait about 20 minutes past our appointment time before they got seated in the chair. Older dd had much more hair and took a longer time, about 20 minutes total once she was seated. Younger dd had much less hair and only took about 10 minutes.

Adding together time waiting for appt, time in chair getting cut, time the stylist paused what they were doing to let me get pictures and time to pay at the end was probably about an hour total both times.

We loved it btw. The stylists are great with the kids and my dd's had a fun time. Last time I got the neatest shot of dd looking at herself in the handheld mirror and smiling and the view is from the back of her head showing where it says "my first haircut" on the mickey ears they get. Awesome.

Hope this helps!

We also waited about 20 min past appointment time. They did a great job with my shy one year old. So cute!

We did this for my son's first haircut in 2013, and it was the best $18 I've ever spent on him! He was about 15-16 months then and is still a very independent stubborn little redheaded baby. We made an appointment, and they got us in quickly after we arrived. It's a very small place compared to the BBB. Every stylist has their beauticians license, and you must come with clean dry hair. Our stylist was really nice with DS - she got him into a booster seat, asked us what style we wanted (clean and neat!) and quickly cut off a lock of hair for us to save. She put that and other clippings into a little fabric drawstring bag and put a mickey sticker on it. She sprayed his hair with water and cut it very nicely - especially since she had his moving head to deal with! Kudos go to the other CMs who kept DS happy and distracted with plenty of spinny light-up toys.

Overall, the package includes:
"My First Haircut" Mickey ears
Lots and Lots of stickers (OK, we get those handed out like candy when we are there, so its not really a special perk or anything)
Certificate that the Barber signs
Fabric bag that they put the clippings in (which as any mother knows, it the really important part!).

Over all, it took about 1hour, but it was a great 1 hour, and worth it. I saw grownups and kids getting haircuts, and it's a nice place to get a little trim if your bangs are getting long! Best price, and there is no FP for it!

We went a few weeks ago. We only waited about 5 minutes after our appointment time. They even squeezed in my husband for a cut. The certificate you get for a first haircut is sooooo cute. Be prepared to protect it if it is raining. It is definitely a keeper!

I agree I had my granddaughter's first hair cut here when she was 16 months old. It was a great experience. They were taking us in order of appointment and we waited 5-10 minutes. It was well worth my time and the $18 is a bargain for what we got. The woman who cut his hair was fabulous. I highly recommend this.
