Hi DISers!! I just booked reservations at the harmony barber shop for my daughters. One will have her first hair cut whie the other who is 3yrs old will get a trim. Any tips or advice before we go? I've never been there. :-). Thank you!

I would love to know, as well. I have a reservation for my little one in September. He'll only be 8.5 months, I hope he has enough hair by then!

no real tips but it is awesome. just let them know it is a first hair cut and they will save a lock of hair for you they even have toys for them to hold on to and use stickers to help entertain them. My DD got mickey ears that said first hair cut a certificate with her name and date and the hair it was all very cute!! Oh and have your camera ready .

Is there a website page/price list somewhere?

ODD will be 6, but YDD will only be 2.5 so we can't do BBB. (I know - she is 'only' 2.5 but she is a VERY aware and mature little girl and there is no way her older sister can do this without a major disaster on our hands!)

I would love to take them to Harmony for 'something' if it's reasonable!

On the Disney website there are prices first haircut $18, colored gel $5, child haircut $15 and adult haircut $19 I believe they do not wash hair. I think pixie dust is a bit more? We are taking the kids for the first time in January (DS first hair cut 26 months, DD 6)

Hmmm - I can't see prices. Could be a different version of the site we see in Canada (LOL!).

Thanks for posting them - does anyone know ifyou can do JUST the gel without a haircut? Or is it an add-on to get the gel?

Any age limit?

There is no age limit. Well, at least your 2.5 yr old should be covered. It's very popular for first time haircuts so I am sure if there is limit it is pretty young. You can go in and get just gel and pixie dust.

Here is what we are thinking about doing as we have DDs - 6, 2&2,

My advice would be to take DD6 to BBB if you want and at the same time have someone else take DD2 to Harmony and get gel, pixie dust, etc. When they both meet up wearing princess dresses and have their hair done, maybe your 2.5 year old will not notice the differences (make-up, etc.). Especially if you have the 6yo make a big deal about her.

Thanks!

(I am a little frugal so likely I will just take both girls to the barber shop - ODD will not know what she is missing yet because last time I did her 'Princess Makeover' myself!)

We did our daughter's first hair cut there at 18 months. They were fantastic. I was worried because they day before (our first day of the trip) she had an awful fall and ended up in the er getting stitches in her lip. They had to restrain her for that so I was worried sitting still for the hair cut could be a problem. We were resolved to give up quickly (still paying for it of course) if she couldn't handle it. They were so nice and she loved holding the toy they handed her and seeing herself in the mirror. The first haircut package is a deal because it includes Mickey ears that would cost almost as much as the haircut!

We walked out and the afternoon parade went right in front of us with no one else around. The barbershop is right where the parade route ends and the floats go backstage. Mickey saw my daughter with her mouse ears and pointed and fussed and she pointed back grinning and squealing. It was the perfect Disney moment to help me forget all about our nightmare the day before!

We just had DD4 and DS1 (first for him). They didn't have gel when we were there. My advice is to go even if the child is in a bad mood. DS was having a total meltdown and we were just going to pack up and go home. But they gave him a toy and played with him and got him calm enough to cut his hair. They are super quick. Just a couple of minutes for each one.

Thank you for all the tips and advice! I'm excited about taking our girls there!! :-)

I have a 1:30 appt in October. DS will be 18 mos and it's his first cut! I'm so excited and can't wait.

Anyone now how long it usually takes? I'm wondering if it's too close to lunch.

Would love to take my daughter for a trim in September! She's four and never had a haircut. Her hair is to her waist. A little trim at Magic Kingdom would be a great first cut, so magical!!

I just booked it about 5 minutes ago for my dd. she will be 2 1/2 when she gets it done in January. Her hair is still pretty short so we are just going to get a lock of hair cut off, and some colored gel and pixie dust. The woman who scheduled her appointment noted that it will be her first cut so she will get a certificate and Mickey ears too! Can't wait :D

Youngest DS got his first haircut here when he was 13 months old and I still smile thinking about it!

We had an 11:00 appointment and it looked busy when we arrived, but we were taken right in. DS had some toys given to him and she also put Mickey stickers all over him so he could entertain himself. I swear he didn't even realize he was getting a haircut.

The first haircut ears are adorable along with the certificate. Such a great memory, we're taking him back for another haircut in September!
