Harmony Barber Shop - Photopass Photographer

I’ve read about people somehow getting a Photopass photographer to take photos of first haircuts at Harmony (which I realize hasn’t reopened), but this seems like a stroke of luck, and certainly not something you would want to count on for a special moment. Are there any good tips that would improve your odds (early in the morning, weekdays, etc.)? Are there Photopass photographers stationed at or near Harmony? Do they tend to be there at certain times? As I mentioned, I wouldn’t want to leave this to chance, so I’m really hoping to find a way to do this where you can actually guarantee a Photopass photographer would be available. This made me think of Capture Your Moment. I’ve never used this service, but it’s described as using locations with views of Cinderella Castle. This makes sense, as that is going to be the iconic shot, but are they at all flexible? I’m sure they won’t let you just ask for photos anywhere in the park, but considering you check in at Town Square Theater, Harmony would make for an even shorter walk and easier shoot. They also say you can book multiple back-to-back sessions to guarantee multiple locations. I assume that means multiple locations near the castle, but they don’t specify.

So I’m hoping there’s a way to guarantee a Photopass photographer is available during a first haircut at Harmony, but if that is not an option, I’ll have to settle for recommendations on how to maximize my odds of making it happen.

Thanks for the help!

It is my understanding that Capture Your Moment includes locations between the train station and the castle, so I don't think Harmony Barber shop is out of the question. I believe each session includes one location, so, if you did back-to-back sessions, you might be able to include the barber shop and then one other location nearby. If you want to guarantee having a photographer, that is probably the only way to go. I can't imagine being able to guarantee a roving Photopass photographer would be stationed at Harmony during your appointment. I would definitely make sure you allow enough time to check-in for your photographer and check-in for your hair cut appointment so you aren't wasting any photography time while waiting for the haircut. Here is a fairly recent review of Capture Your Moment that has some good details: https://herewiththeears.com/full-review-capture-your-moment-photo-session-from-disney-photopass/

You bring up a good point. You have to be able sync the two reservations, which would be really hard, even beyond getting adequate overlapping time slots. If either is running behind at all, you could lose your photo time at the barber shop. You’re supposed to check in 10 minutes early at Capture Your Moment, so I guess you would want to book the Harmony appointment 5 or 10 minutes after the photo start time to give yourself enough time to check in, walk over, and get checked in at Harmony. But once you’re there, the clock is probably ticking on your photo session, so if they’re not ready for you right when you get there, you’re in trouble. The only way to be safe would be to book multiple photo time slots. The Capture Your Magic page says you can book multiple back to back, but they only talk about two. Can you book more than two? It would be a nice way to do Harmony and a castle location. I’ll probably have to call Disney, but these are the types of details I find I get conflicting information if I talk to more than one person.

We had my daughter's first haircut there many years ago first thing in the morning. We just asked a photographer that was in the area if she would be willing to take our pictures at our time. She did come over and helped us. It was a roving photographer.

It sounds like you may get lucky, but if there are no free Photopass photographers, you might be out of luck. Or with a program like Capture Your Magic now in place, Disney could have policies that prevent the photographers from doing that.

When my DD had her first haircut experience there, there was already a Photopass photographer there and ready to take her pictures. It was an amazing experience! We did not request the photographer to be there, but when we made the reservation it was specifically for her first haircut. So I am not sure if they know that and then have a photographer ready for the appointment.

That’s interesting. Does anyone else have any experience with this? I would want to know ahead of time definitively, so I’m sure I’ll have to ultimately call and ask. But like I mentioned, I would hate to get the wrong information for something like this, which does tend to happen.

That is a really good point and highly likely.

We've had 5 first hair cuts done here and have never had a PhotoPass photographer in there. That was just a lucky day for PP, not a normal thing.

Agreed. Had our sons first haircut done in May 2019 and no photo pass.
