I'm taking DS1 to get his first haircut on our trip and I know they do colored gel since it's on their list of services. Has anyone done this for their daughters? I think DD3 and DD5 will like it...is there pixie dust involved??

Yes.

It's for girls, too.

There is lots of pixie dust! We took my DD1 for her very first hair cut and the covered her in it. What was really neat was that we went to see Mickey afterwards- we have a picture of him "sprinkling" the pixie dust on her head. It's a great place for girls too!

I took DD there when she was 7 and they trimmed her hair just a wee bit and put it in a cute little updo and sprinkled little stars all over it. She loved it.

My DD was 11yo when she got a nice hair cut at the barber. One of the stylists( I think his name is Mikal) used to have a salon in a swanky suburb here in Chicagoland. He did a fantastic job on my daughters hair.

Is there pixie dust involved, you ask!!! You will be finding pixie dust for days!!

My daughters were 5, and 6 the first time they had it done, and still talk about it. They want to do it every trip. It is a little messy, but not to bad. I'm sure if you would get caught in a rain burst it might make for quite the colored explosion!

Harmony barber shop is the only place in FL I will let touch my hair with anything to cut hair with. (GREAT CUTS)

They will also use colored gel an pixie dust if you ask for it the colored gel takes forever to dry on a hot humid day in Disney.

Are they doing the colored gel again now? Last I knew they weren't able to offer than anymore. We always take DD for a quick trim and pixie dust!

Do you have to make an appointment / reservations?

They still accept walk-ups.

But, making an appointment can be a good thing.

Call 407-WDW-DINE and ask for Childrens' Activities.

I'm sure my girls would love that

I just wrote a blog post about this today! http://www.enchantingbeginnings.com/harmony-barber-shop-in-magic-kingdom/

We've done Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and the Harmony barber shop. I loved both. But the barber shop cuts their hair too, if you desire. They are totally different experiences but both are for sure good for girls. Honestly, my girls would probably choose the barber shop over bbb. I've asked them if they wanted to do bbb since we did it and the answer is always no. But the barber shop is often yes. There just is no pressure there, it's relaxing and yet still special.

My DGD had her hair done at the barbershop on her first trip. She was dressed in her Cinderella ballgown and her little white blinking sneakers. The style was adorable, covered in blue gel and pixie dust and little curls. No extensions, no makeup. She was a s cute as a button! I would take girls there in a heartbeat!

Perfect timing with your blog! It's the only one I've seen about HBS and that has great pictures. Do you know if you can get the colored gel done without a haircut? I wonder if the Quartet sings on any schedule?

I bet she looked precious! :goodvibes Did she just get a style or a cut too? Do you remember the cost if it was just a style?

Our granddaughter did her first trip a few years ago, she was 9 months old and had her " first " haircut at Harmony.... They were so go, patient, gave her ton of stickers to play with... She got a "first hair cut album" and Mickey ears hat...pictures and memories for a life time.... Now it's her sisters turn, she just turned 1 and her first cut has to be at Disney.... Can't wait !

I wish I remember the cost, but I do not. I want to say $15 plus tip, but I am not sure. DD just asked for the style, no cut. We got to MK just after opening, by 10 AM , anyway, went straight there and got in line. It was about 45 minutes wait, and the rest of the family kind of shopped while waiting. DD was able to choose what she wanted for Kady. I admit to being very biased, but I think she was adorable. BBB was not opened yet, but honestly, DD would never have taken DGD there. She thinks the kids look a little too grown up.
There were boys getting some Mickey Head cutouts and sprays on their hair. Really fun!

Warning!!! That blue stuff that they put in the hair was like glue getting out. And glitter for days and days, but IMO, that was a good thing :rotfl2:

My DD had the same barber as your DD and it was just adorable, period. I was a bit cautious because DD has very long, very thick, VERY curly hair and she was very gentle in getting it brushed out and trimmed. Excellent job. They don't do it as TIGHT as BBB, but she gave her a precious updo.

I would definitely make a reservation. They book the same 180+10 although I don't know how fast they book up. We took DS for his first barber shop haircut last September during a slow time. Papa thought it would be fun to get his hair cut there too but they were booked up for the 2 days we were at MK (and DS's appt was one of the first in the a.m.)

Needless to say, our next visit will include Papa and his grandson getting their hair cut together :)
