We were just discussing this tonight. I was a little afraid we wouldn't have enough candy based on all the kids I saw when we were out (since I bought extra & couldn't find the bags before I left). When I got home, I asked DH how much was left...he found the extra bags and didn't even have to open them. I've decided it's because we are on a busy street not quite in the "U" part -- our subdivision has a couple U shape roads and basically we are the main road that would cross the top of the U.
The first year we moved in here we went through at least 6 big bags of candy but it's been dwindling each year. I think part of it is the neighborhood is getting "older" -- all the little kids when we moved in are now teenagers who no longer trick or treat. We still get a fair amount of kids, just less than previously (so of course, I overbought with knowing it is a Sunday this year and not too bad weather wise). I'm also basing this on I just got the school directory on Friday & this is the first year since my 16 year old started Kindergarten that every grade except 5th only has 3 classes. It's *always* been at least 4 classes & the year before DD's was 5!! And ours isn't the only subdivision going to the school.
Now flip that around & my mom's neighborhood, she was lucky if she got 20 kids for YEARS and this year she has had 51 (she keeps count!
Always has.) So their neighborhood is now going back to the upswing of getting the younger families moving in.

I really thought there'd be more, being a weekend and all....and that was really only about 5 doorbell rings, because they were in groups...
