Hard to get multiple rooms close together?

Thinking about a future family trip where we would be using more than one room. For example, what if we needed a 2 BR and one or two studios at OKW? Do they generally place people in the same party reasonably close together? Like at least in nearby buildings? Or could we easily wind up in opposite ends of OKW? Since this would be a family get-together, we would really want to be pretty close together. Especially since possibly not everyone will have a car at their disposal.

What have your experiences been when booking more than one room for the same stay? By the way, this would probably be at a peak time (unfortunately) so that more are able to come.

Thanks for any info you can pass along! :)

We never had any trouble getting rooms close together. We just request it when we make our reservations.

If you request it on your ressie, I'm sure they will do the best they can. It really depends on what is available at the time.

When you make the ressie, make sure you have MS link the 2 together. That way the room controller will know you are together. I have done this on several trips, one time with 6 rooms, 3 2BR and 3 STUs at OKW. We ended up with 3 in one bldg, and 3 in the next bldg. The CMs are great, and will do their very best to get you close together.

That's a good tip, Bill! I appreciate it.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! :)

When we took family and requested multi-rooms, we also contacted the room assigner two or three days out. She was very pleasant and got our 2 bedroom and studio in the same building and on groundfloor, since my dad is handicapped. We also had the reservations linked by MS, but I wanted to be sure we were in the same building.

Sharon, how did you go about contacting the room assigner directly? I guess I didn't realize that was even possible! Thanks a bunch!

Travelbug,

I believe I contacted the resort front desk and explained my dilemma. They were the ones who transfered me over to the room assigner. I would imagine they've encountered the same situation quite a few times!!!!:)

Good luck! Have a great trip!

Mulanon,
How far in advance were you able to talk to the room assigner? They are telling me 24 hours in advance is when you can find out your room number. I have a medical problem that requires a one bedroom & a studio next to each other.

tripletva, if you have a medical need, make sure that is on your reservation confirmation. We have been told that they fill medical requests before general requests. I don't know why you want a one bedroom and a studio, instead of a 2 bedroom, but you may want to request a lock off because that wouls give you the advantages of both.
I was also going to suggest linking the reservations together. Also look at your preferences; if one said "close to main pool" as the top preference and the other said "smoking", they may have more difficulty putting you in buildings close together.

Tripletvan,

I was within five days of arrival when I spoke to the room assigner. Sue M gave some excellent advice in her reply regarding requesting a two bedroom lock-off, which is basically a 1BR and a studio. Also, if the 2 BR lock-off is an option for you, that is something easily rectified if for some reason you were given something different upon check-in. Putting separate parties in the same building or adjacent buildings is a bit more difficult.

Hope this has helped!

We are on the waitlist for the two bedroom but who knows if that will come through. The original reservation was for two studios and then we got the go ahead for my nephew & company to join us which is why we are on the waitlist and I am not having very much luck although I am still keeping my fingers crossed.I have tried all of the ways to figure out how to do this which is why we also have a confirmation for the one bedroom. If this makes any sense I thought well if I can't get the two bedroom then I will need a studio & a one bedroom forgetting that they needed to be guarenteed to be next to each other! PHEW!
