I just always feel awkward. (And never know how much to tip.) Same reasons I don't like using Bell Service or Room Service. Just makes me anxious.
I do $1 per luggage or item (like bottled water case)I just always feel awkward. (And never know how much to tip.) Same reasons I don't like using Bell Service or Room Service. Just makes me anxious.
I do $5 for car retrieval and $1-$2/ bag. Mostly I self park and self luggage, thoughI just always feel awkward. (And never know how much to tip.) Same reasons I don't like using Bell Service or Room Service. Just makes me anxious.
Even in CA? Don't want to bask in the skyway vibes of old? Being in CA would take away 90% of the issues it has in Florida. As long as I don't have to take the skyliner anywhere!

If they have to rebuild the Matterhorn one of these days and they put the skyliner though it I would do backflips (at least in my mind) down main street on my way to ride it.....
But, if I can pick I want the people mover.

We like it for leaving but not for entering. I love walking through the entrance of DL, its gives me all the feels. It does close during Fireworks so you would have to time it around that.We never ride the monorail at DLR. I had to pull up a map because I couldn't even remember where the stations were. Some people mention that the monorail is good to use if you stay at the Disneyland Hotel and don't want to walk the full way. But for us....we never really go to Tomorrowland first when entering the park. So I can't see us wanting to use the monorail to enter the park.
However, we very often end the day in Tomorrowland because our son's favorite last ride of the day is almost always Autopia. So going back to VDH via the monorail sounds kind of nice. But is the monorail always running during park hours? Do they close it during fireworks?
When we looked at the map and how close the monorail station is to Autopia, my husband said "hmm...this does make VDH more appealing." (Star Tours is also one of our favorites that we tend to hit up in the evening before heading out.)
It's actually closed a lot. They close it whenever it's hot outside. There's been a few times that the line is so long for it, that I take the train to the front of the park and walk instead. It is an option, though, just not something you can count on.But is the monorail always running during park hours? Do they close it during fireworks?
Oh to have a time machineThey didnt box in you back in the day like they do now, not as much need for AC

For sure make the walk before making any decisions. The Pixar entrance really helps for DCA.We take a break every afternoon. That's one reason I worry the walk would just be too long and annoying for us since we'd be making it twice a day.
Last June, it was really the first time we used the train as transportation. It was so warm out and the idea of walking from main street back to the back of the park sounded horrible. So we rode the train. It was great and I have no idea why we weren't always doing this! We also used some of the main street vehicles just to relax from entrance to castle. It was really nice.
That train is an attraction in itself, i love the dinosaur scene and the outdoors scene with the native Americans and canoesWe take a break every afternoon. That's one reason I worry the walk would just be too long and annoying for us since we'd be making it twice a day.

Now that they are starting to announce more concrete Disneyland projects, my husband's interest in VDH has gone up a bit. Even though they aren't doing anything on the west side yet....just seeing things take shape for other project gives us hope for exciting things to come!
I told him that when I did a possible trip plan for the next 6 or 7 years, we'd probably have too many points if we added 150. He said "well, what about if we added an extra day to each trip."![]()
So I basically did a mock trip schedule, alternating between VGC (160pts) and VDH (150 pts). On VGC years, we end up with about 29 extra points (give or take.) On VDH years, we're good...because it's actually a bit more expensive there in June. We don't always go in June though. So it does vary a bit. Right now, we mostly have plans to go in June and occasionally in December or February.
But...we also need to keep in the back of our heads that our vacation times and frequency might change once our son is older.
There are some years where we may not do a Disney trip at all, so I suppose we'd probably rent out points and then use that cash towards non-Disney vacations. I don't think that would be a huge deal, by any means.
I suspect we will want to travel to Disneyland in the Spring again at some point, which always seems to cost more points so having an extra bit of cushion of points could be good for that.
Another reason VDH sounds appealing to me is because I'm hesitant to stay at VGC in the Fall due to the noise from the Halloween Party. So VDH would be a better option if we travel during that time. (Of course, I do worry about future VDH nighttime noise if the Disneyland Forward stuff happens.)
For now, it's just fun looking at the options, watching videos of the resorts, and planning out possible trip schedules. I'm seriously anxious to see VDH in person and it sucks our trip is so far away!
Were your estimates for deluxe studio or 1 bedroom? Going up a room size or extending a day per trip - either will bring more enjoyment and more points![]()
