hard rock uprgrades plt and gold

i have the loews gold card and always stay at hrh.
in october i was given an upgraded room at the same price of my regular room.
also gold receives late check out of 2 pm.
welcome gift, daily newspaper and turn down service.

the upgrades are not always available. it depends what is open at the hotel the time you are there.

gold has other perks but i did not use them.
free access to the work out room and something else which i can't think of at this time.

They also sometimes offer Gold and Platinum members a suite ugrade for $35. We did this twice, once to a kids suite (HRH) and once to a king suite (RP).

Plat Loews can recieve a free upgrade to a suite at the time of booking now(must be platinum). I've been upgraded to a parlor suite at PBH. Call and inquire.

If you book a regular room: Gold would get a free upgrade to a deluxe room or a pool view room. Suite upgrades to a king suite or sometimes a kids suite would cost $35/night.

If you book club: You could upgrade to a king suite for $35/night if one was available on the club floor. I think there are only two on that floor. Platinum could have the suite for free.

RyGuy, do you know if Plat Loews can upgrade to a villa suite for $35 per night? We booked a standard room at PBH and were upgraded to a portofino parlor suite at the time of booking. I'm wondering if you can further upgrade with $$. TIA

i have the gold card and in october got the free upgrade to a suite. (hrh)

i think it was just the luck of the draw when i was there.
if rooms are available and there are no black out dates for the loews program, it can happen.

of course after many stays there, it has only happened once for me

Muffy,

I have heard of others booking a deluxe room at a qualifying rate and then calling the hotel directly and getting the Villa parlor for free. If you already have the Portofino parlor you could always ask at check-in if they have a villa parlor available to give you some more space. They are usually very accomodating at PBH because they have many suites that usually aren't occupied. I have never stayed in a standard garden or bay view there. I had a deluxe once and the rest of my stays have been complimentary suite upgrades. I will be there this Saturday night 1/7 with a bay view booked and I am almost certain they will upgrade me to a Villa or Hospitality suite. Good Luck!

ryguy, i visited the thread of "have been at all three onsite hotels" but forgot what you had posted there. or it was on another thread where you posted about some of your stays.

i have a question for you.
which of the 3 on site hotels is your favorite? does the cost of the room affect your choice?

i have always stayed at hrh (with one night at pbh free of charge due to overbooking). with the prices high at hrh, i am trying to decide on one of the others for my fall trip.

i hate to give up the free upgrades i have received in the past from hrh but think its time to stay at another hotel.
you always give good advice so that is why i am asking your opinion

macraven,

My chance of an upgrade and the room rate are what help me decide where to stay. My favorite on-site hotel is HRH because of the cool theming and the short walk to the parks. I like the pool too. It is also the most difficult hotel to get an upgrade because it has the least amount of guest rooms (650) and a higher occupancy rate than the other two. Next I like RPR because of the lower room rates. I love the lobby but the rooms are too small. I prob wouldn't stay there as often if I didn't get so many suite upgrades and club access keys. PBH is amazing but the rates are usually to high for me. Both the villa and the beach pools are really nice. I also love the grounds at PBH. Your best chance of getting an upgrade is at PBH and their suites are by far the biggest and nicest. The same goes for their standard rooms. I have booked a standard garden or bay view room during all of my stays and gotten a suite upgrade very time except one when I got a deluxe room. Feel free to ask if you have other questions. I'm leaving tomorrow for a night at RPR and then a night at PBH so I may not get back to the boards before Monday.

thanks ryguy for your thoughts.
i don't spend any time in the pool and very little in the lobby.
i spend all my time in the room and in the parks .

i dread giving up the short walk from hrh to the parks, especially durning the hhn event but hate to pay out over $165 difference from rph and hrh.
i think this is what i am fighting. give up the short walk and go for the money.

if i had someone with me on the upcoming trip, i would stay at hrh, but i am going solo this time and don't need much room. i have been extremely lucky with upgrades n the past at hrh.

maybe i should try rph for one trip so i can gain entrance to the club/been to all three.

only spent one night at pbh as hrh was overbooked and sent there. but couldn't enjoy it as i went when i left the park at 2 in the morning then switched back to hrh the next morning at 8.

enjoy your trip to universal.

I've been told we may certainly further upgrade with $$ when we checkin! It's good to know more about this upgrade that is offered to members. The parlor suite is very roomy and plush but the villa suite is huge! Loved it! I'll post back after we return.
