Me and DH + DD 17 and DD 9. We are going to eat before seeing the Blue Man Group on our arrival day. I have been to several Hard Rocks and while they are cool looking, I have never seen anything but memorabilia on display. I have never been to Margaritaville, but read that it is really fun and has a volcano that explodes.

Any opinions on which one might be more fun for the kids?

They're both fun- Hard Rock is only really supposed to be a display of memorabilia, and this one has a lot of it! There are special rooms dedicated to different artist. Very cool if you're into music. Margaritaville is fun and a little more interactive- they have stilt walkers, a live band on the patio in the evening, and the exploding volcano. I enjoy both, I think the food is good at both and you probably can't go wrong either way!

DW and I went to Margaritaville last year while on vaca. and sat out on the deck, it was a real good time. There was a lady on stilts going around and making balloon animal and hats, and then there was a dj, (can't remember name) he played some music but it was mostly trivia, and other games associated with music. There were kids there also and they were getting in to the grove. We did not go into the actual restaurant but they had a live band in playing southern rock and it was load. We had a great time and the food was awesome. I think if you go to Margaritiville, you won't be disappointed. Have a fun time.

109 days till we are at the Fort.

Thanks everyone...looks like it's Margarittaville!!

BTW the show is at 8 - is 6 early enough to eat and enjoy the place before heading to the show or would you allow for a little more time?

I can't speak for the Margaritaville in Orlando, but the one in New Orleans makes a priority of QUICK service no matter how packed it is. We've been in and out in 45 minutes even when there's a line of 20 people waiting to be seated. I'd think that's plenty of time.

DH really wanted to go to Hard Rock for dinner one night when we were there last week.... I was like, really? We can do that close to home. Plus it was pouring rain! Anyway, I have to say it was probably-- surprisingly-- one of the best meals we had the whole week. Excellent service too. My kids loved the interactive "wall screen" where they could drag their hand across and see different music memorabilia and trivia. Of course, it was LOUD, but gee, no kidding! LOL. We (just he & I) went to Margaritaville but just sat on the deck and had beers and an app. It was fine for what it was -- never saw the inside so didn't even know about the volcano. I'm sure either choice would be good. Since you've been to HRs already, Margaritaville might be the more interesting place.

the HRC at city walk is the largest of all the hrcafes.

i love all the food there.

i have been to margaritaville and it was just okay.
food and service has not impressed me there.

hrc for me, has the better choice of foods.
and great service.

We went to Margaritaville last week and I don't think we will be back for a while. We are at Universal all the time and Margarittaville has gone down the tubes from what it used to be. All they are now is a tourist trap with no real value. They removed a few menu items and the service has been poor on the past few visits.

We did however eat at Hard Rock Cafe 3 dinners this past trip and loved all of them.:thumbsup2

On my last trip to US/IOA with kids, then 14 and 16, we did both. The hands down favorite according to the kids was Margaritaville. They especially enjoyed trying deep fried alligator for an appetizer, the volcano and the projected Buffet concerts on the screens (sails?) in the restaurant.

I used to say hard rock but I'm not a fan of their new menu. Margaritaville changed their menu recently too but I still prefer it to hard rock

We love both. You can't make a wrong decision.;)

It depends on your personal taste for atmosphere I guess. Both have excellent vacation food (IMO). It's not a 5 star experience but it's destination food kwim?

On our last quick trip MV won out because we love the key lime pie for dessert.:goodvibes

Love the Key Lime Pie there.

We prefer Margaritaville out of the 2, but as said before you can`t go wrong with either of them. We had one bad experience at HRC and it did put us off going back, so probably won`t go back, but never had anything but fantastic food and service at Margaritaville.

My nephew ate ate both last week and gave Margaritaville the edge as they waited ages for their food at HRC......they were forgotten about....it happens sometimes but it was not the best experience for them. They also loved Nascar Café too :thumbsup2

Margaritaville they loved. Thought it was much more of a fun place and loved the food too.

I am a bit disappointed crab cake sandwich is off the menu now but there`s plenty of other choice still there.

Have fun wherever you choose :goodvibes

in late June. My wife and I used to frequent the Maragritaville in Key West, but haven't been to one in a number of years. We have a Hard Rock nearby but only go occassionally.

We made a ressie at Margaritaville and enjoyed it. We sat out in the patio area. There was a gentleman singing and playing an acoustic guitar. Service was quick and the food good.

The next night I missed dinner due to being stuck in a line. We tried Margaritaville (Pinacoldaburg) but there was a 20 minute. Curiously the same wait without a ressie the night before. It was getting near 10 PM and we were able to get seated immediately at Hard Rock. The food was pretty good and service was okay.

I think Maragaritaville was the bettter of the two, but that may have been more because of where we were seated. The musice and the breeze make for a more enjoyable setting.
