Harbor Hotels

Awesome! Virgo power! It looks like a few of us will be in the parks for our early September birthdays. Usually my B-day on the 3rd lands on Labor Day weekend but this time it will bleed into the weekdays... good for me, I can stretch out the good times a bit!

September 7th anyone? Hey for all you early September babies, here is a little food for thought. I once knew a girl who had the same birthday as me, day and year and she told me that her mother told her that she was conceived on Thanksgiving. Think about it, 9 months and change... Yes I was creeped out too (like you are right now) but it is kinda funny... you were very possibly a Thanksgiving holiday love child!

Have a turkey leg!:rotfl: :rotfl2:

At least we were the products of happy turkey comas and not a drunken New Year's Eve fest! Maybe that's why we all think of food first!

We'll be staying at the GCH on the 30 and cheering on the Half Marathon runners on Saturday, the 31st. Friend is running, so his fiance (our other BFF) is hanging out with us. We always do breakfast during the "away from DL" portion at Storytellers and then go out to DTD for the arrival. If you've never experienced it, it's a blast!

The entry plaza for the parks will be very busy on that morning and a lot of the roads around the resort are closed! If you can get up early enough - 6:30?, they start the race on the road that runs between PP and the GCH, right before where the monorail crosses over. It's trult a sight to see! They pull out the monorail and there are characters hanging out the windows!

Yeah, you think being Virgos has anything to do with us being obsessive PLANNERS?! Therefore we're on these boards all the time trying to plan our trips and getting all these obscure little tips from each other? :rotfl2:

Naahhh. I never did believe all that astrological stuff, anyway. :lmao:

Go September babies! :woohoo:

My hotel list in order of preference, this is only for hotels on Harbor because of course my number 1 hotel of pref. is the GCH! LOL

HoJo
Candy Cane Inn
Tropicana
BWPPI

I always try HoJo first for the Ent Rate, then I go to CCI. Those are my 2 favorites!!!!! HoJo has free Wi-Fi (in the room!!!!) and a GREAT parking lot with free parking. We drive so we get there early and leave well after check out time, HoJo's never has any problems with us leaving our car in the lot. :)

hahahahahahaha that is soooo true. one of the things ive read about virgos is that we like to makes lists...even lists of lists! i always have a pen and paper with me b/c thats seriously all i do lol i even have a list of things i need to make a list of. it a big problem i have, i know! i cant even tell you how many DL lists i have, that are pretty much all the same:rotfl2: i never add to them, i just start all over b/c its another reason to make a new list!

i need help. lol:laughing:

All the candy cane votes, its not in the same area walking distance wise. Its walkable but its a bit misleading to include it in that category of vicinity and you could include about 20 others including gardenwalk and the new hotels there, which are very nice, if you're going to include something that distance. Might be a bit misleading to the OP if they aren't familiar with the area.

CCI is as walkable as HoJo. I know, I've done both. CCI is a bit longer but not too much. HoJo is about 8 min. for us and CCI was about 11. And CCI has a FREE shuttle and a FREE breakfast, neither of which the HoJo has. I chose the HoJo usually, because I get that killer Ent Rate which makes it really awesome! :)

Oh my gosh, I am a master of list making. I do it on a daily basis whether it is work related or personal errands. If I didn't I would waste time and energy trying to figure out "what the list is" so it is a real sense of comfort!

So I'm not sure if we should drop our BW reservations and go with Hojo. I know none of them are fantastic but just being across the street is great and having the car right there is actually better than in the DLR parking lots, we figure we can go grab dinner outside of the resort if we please one night. I really like the location of BW, really closer to the entrances than PPH and DLH.

OK, we are geeks. We don't have kids and we LOVE Disneyland! I couldn't be with someone who didn't atleast have the inclination to geek out at DL more than once and awhile! We go on average a couple times a month. I've been going since I was a child in the early 70s and I've never stopped. This behavior will continue indefintely! My parents still love to go too and are APers, for my family clan there is no shame in it!

The best part about us staying at the hotel next to the resort for two nights and 2.5 days (playing hookie from work during the week!) is that she lives in OC about 15 miles from DLR and I live in LA Co. about 55 miles away but we are going to treat it like a getaway vacation! As Yoda would say, "geeks we are!"

Hey, can someone give me the scoop on the entertainment rate deal? I have no clue what that is, I'm retarded.

You know those Entertainment Coupon books that kids sell on your doorstep to benefit their schools? Those.

Hey - my friend, who recommended the BW and the Park Vue lives in Canyon Country...

We're right on your way down the 5!

Here's the Entertainment rate deal:

You get the book, which has a card stuck inside the cover. You can order it online from Entertainment.com. As I said in an earlier post, you can get the card only for free plus shipping from E-bay right now, because it expires Nov. 1st. Otherwise the books costs from $25-40, depending on where you live. If you were to get the book for next year, go ahead and order it for your own area; it doesn't have to be for Orange County. All you need is the card.

A bunch of hotels do the Entertainment rate; HoJo seems to be the closest 3-star hotel that does it for such a good rate. Here's their calendar which shows the dates it's available: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14

In your case, DoomBugger, you're fine; all your dates are listed there. If you are ever looking and don't see your dates, keep in mind that it gets updated frequently. For example, there were NO dates for July until all of a sudden, the last week in June, about a dozen July dates opened up. I would call ASAP, though, because they do sell out.

The Ent rates are $59 a night for a standard room, $74 for a deluxe room. The deluxe rooms are recently renovated; you get them overlooking the garden pool (building 2) or with a view of Disneyland (building 1; these upper floors have a great fireworks view). They have a dorm sized fridge, a microwave, new pillow-top mattresses, and most of them have balconies.

Here's the link to the website that shows the room layouts, and amenities in each room. On the third page is a map of the hotel layout so you can see where the buildings are. http://www.hojoanaheim.com/pdf/room_layouts.pdf

You don't need the Ent card to book; you can call and book right now, just get the card before you go. When you book, call the hotel directly (714)776-6120 and ask for IN HOUSE reservations, and ask for the Entertainment rate. Call between 9-5 Pacific time weekdays. Do NOT let them shuttle you to the general reservations, 1-800 line; you can only get this deal through "in-house" reservations. The 1-800 people will not know what you're talking about. Ask for Lorealle; she is so friendly and helpful! Tell her you're from the DIS boards and she'll go all out to make sure you get what you need.

Hope that helps! :)
