DD's friend has done dance for years, but DD was never interested. I always felt bad because I felt that if she tried it she would love it. Last year at this time, we went to the show to see dd's friend. The show was 3 hours long and absolutely awesome. It is a very innovative dance school, and rather than being predictible and boring, it is unbelievably entertaining. It is a small school (65 kids?)and they practice in very small quarters. A 40 ish man runs the school ( I think he mostly teaches jazz), along with a female tap and ballet teacher who is like almost 90 years old.
Well, after seeing the awesome show, DD wanted to do dance. So fast foward now to 1 year later, she has been going for 1 year, and I cannot believe how much she has learned. She goes twice a week for 2 hours each day, I thought that would be too much for her, but she has really grown to love it. Plus, I've always been afraid of her gaining too much weight(she has just turned 10, and has always been in a high percentile of average)and when I pick her up, man they work up a sweat. Her body is looking great, very toned and preportioned. Anyway, the big show is tomorrow, and I just dropped her off with 2 of her friends for dress rehearsal at a large performing arts center. Seeing her walk in there, so happy and excited,I was just thrilled for her. I thought back to 1 year ago when I was just imagining how neat it would be if she gave dance a try. And she did it, and stuck with it. Its such a good feeling when your kid finally finds something they really enjoy. Thanks for listening!
