Happy New Year from the Fort

I had the privilege of being here this year for New Years Eve- I have never in my life seen anything so beautiful as the fireworks they did at MK! I knew it was going to be an amazing night when we were going around the fort in the early evening- it just had a feeling of being "alive"... We've been here 10 days, and there was definitely a different feeling in the air. People honking horns...kids playing.....lots of hats and streamers on the golf carts.....everyone saying Happy New Year! We went down to the beach with our golf cart around 11pm, and it was simply amazing- I felt like we were in New Yorks Times Square! They had people directing golf cart parking everywhere! We ended up so far from normal parking it was hilarious! And ok, because we just cut across to the far end of the beach, so it wasn't too bad walking... But the BEACH!!! People were wall to wall- music playing- people dancing and blowing their noise makers -- for a MN country girl, it was a sight to see!

And the fireworks- words simply can't describe them. I tried to take pictures, but my camera isn't that good at it. Instead of just having them over the castle area, they did identical fireworks over a little ways- almost looks like they were setting them off from the old waterpark down from the beach a little ways... They were just breathtaking. I will never see something like that again, and I am so glad I got the chance to see it last night!

So for now- Happy New Year to all my Fort friends! I hope this is the beginning of an amazing new year to all of you! We have 4 more days here- what an amazing way to start 2014 for us!

Thank you Bama Ed! That was one of only about 2 or 3 that turned out halfway decent. But at least you can get an idea of how beautiful it was! I wish all of you had the chance to see them!

Just a few days late... Happy New Years!

We were on the beach from after the first Hoop Dee Doo showing (our food and entertainment for the evening) until the fireworks were done. Our vantage point was near the tetherball pole, so we were quite close to the action! My nephew was also one of the BINGO winners!

I've got a ton of photos to go through (over 4k... across 4 photographers, we'll overlook the 2100 from me alone...) but I have lots of decorated site photos and fireworks. Once I'm less cough-y I'll get to posting them. But in the meantime... have a shot from the beach on NYE.
