Here's your first sneak peek at what we'll be wearing...
To go by Matts last Clue in our Costume guessing contest: we need something old, something new something bloodied and something bruised
The idea of us dressing up as the haunted mansion Bride and one her poor dead husbands isnt a new idea, but we cant wait to interpret it for our own and especially in conjunction w/ our own Wedding Anniversary (quite ironic huh?
)
So how did the idea come to us?
Long before the decision ever was made for Matt and I to go to WDW in October, a family conversation came about about what costumes would we dress up as for our family if we ever went to WDW during Halloween time. We arent big Halloween people but have always enjoyed dressing up in costume and especially helping our kids have fun too.
I believe it is during that conversation that Matt and I both said the quintessential WDW Halloween costume would have to be the HM Bride I actually hoped someday this would come true!
Jump forward to the present trip planning and I just couldnt wait to make this costume a reality I initially thought of using an old lace dress of mine and tweak it for a wedding dress but then in some HM research I knew it had to be something more something classic
I googled pixs of the HM bride and read up on some blogs and sites devoted to the HM and even saw some pixs of other guests who have dressed up as her.
Versions of the original HM Bride (pixs from doombuggies)
And the current Black Widow bride
And my vision started to come together. I knew I wanted to do homage to the original HM Bride w/ the beating heart but dressed more similar to the current Black Widow Bride.
The decision was made to purchase a dress for myself and I starting looking around online and then on Ebay and I found it the dress. I said Yes to the Dress! I never thought Id get excited over another Wedding Dress compared to My Dress that I wore just about 15 yrs ago to my wonderful (alive) husband Matt.
I waited it out for over a day and then as the time ticked down I watched and waited to make that crucial bid to get the dress a bid war ensued and luckily I WON it! WHO-HOO! I was so excited and couldnt wait for it to come it arrived a few days later and w/ eager anticipation I tried it on and as Matt zipped up the zipper (a little tight so like any good bride to be I need to shed a few pounds) it went up and I was thrilled
Its a gorgeous antique dress and I love it to pieces even though its a Halloween costume Matt rolls
his eyes at me
girls and their dresses
Matt will rig me up my beating heart and I need to buy a veil (or make one really) Im going to ask my sister to help make me a little drawstring bag to carry my essentials for the night and then decide on the last minute details I will share some more pixs as we get closer but the final reveal youll have to wait on
Now onto my Groom
When we first decided to dress up, I wanted to go as Donald Duck (no you didnt) but when Julie told me in no uncertain terms that my costume had to include pants, I decided I might as well try and match her costume.
Even though there are so many great characters to pick from in the HM the most obvious match for the Bride is the legendary Hat Box Ghost
I had it all worked out the high colored cape, the top hat, the cane, the hat box, w/ a plaster cast of my face in it that I could show to people while covering my real face w/ a plain black mask (in his mind I might point out) but Julie had to be a buzz kill (yes I am so mean)and pointed out the fact that Id have to carry all that junk around all night.
So the next best choice is one of the husbands
Now all that is left is to decide who has the coolest facial hair (haha)
Clean Shaven: like the dopey looking, bowler hat wearing Ambrose Harper
A debonair pencil thin mustache: like Frank Banks
The Fu Manchu: of the Marquis
The massive lamb chops: of Reginald Caine
Or the great glorious walrus-tasche: of George Hightower
Fortunately I would look awesome in any of them (can I tell you how much I detest facial hair BLAH).
The best part is no matter who I choose, I dont have to worry about the costume, I just have to make sure I get my ascot dry-cleaned if I choose George Hightower.
Well there you have it I hope you will continue to stay tuned as our costumes take place and of course wait to see how will look in our element when we arrive home to the Gracey Manor .

How to be a Bride and Groom
well a dead groom and a murderous bride that is
