LOL. EVERY holiday was a normal work day, not a day off in my industry, including Labor Day. We retired 4 years ago, so Labor Day 2021 was the first Labor Day my wife and I did not work in 42 years. First TV station I worked at carried the Jerry Lewis Labor Day MDA Telethon, so NOBODY got today off, and it was usually a weekend of LOTS of overtime. If you worked Labor Day, it was at least a double time day. If you had overtime, that was a triple time situation. At least you didn't have to pack a lunch if you worked the Telethon because there was a steady stream of food donated by area restaurants arriving.
Actually, in retirement, I find holidays a hassled because some of the businesses I need are closed and I have to work around that. Disrupts my routine. Like today, I am fighting with my mail order pharmacy over a prescription that they won't fill until they talk to the Doctor. Of course, the fact that they got the prescription a week ago, and didn't notify me of an issue until SATURDAY doesn't help.
