Happy Hour!!

I'm still here for another month. ("I ain't dead yet") My passes expire March 16th so I'm sure we'll get another trip in before then.

Anyway - I went this weekend (17th) and Alcatraz did not have happy hour at 2!! But Finnegans and La Bamba were both open at 3pm.

At IOA, watering hole was open at 2 and Backwater and Alchemy were open at 3.

As per Show Times Guide at IOA this past w/e:
Watering Hole (JP) 2 - 4 pm
Backwater Confisco's (POE) 3 - Park close, 6 pm while there.
Alchemy in Oak Tree (LC), same as Backwater.

Studios Guide doesn't show Happy Hours, wonder why?

This is a very interesting thread! DH just came back from a convention at Disney and they did beers around the world in Epcot. He was not thrilled about going to Florida in Aug, too hot for him. But now I can tell him about all the Happy Hours and he will be smiling!!!
Thanks for the great info!!

Can you imagine the business Finnegans will do when the Mummy opens?

We will be there on St Pattys day so hopefully it should be a lot of fun:jester:

I'm thinking about that now, and I can see a huge increase.

Hm, maybe they could get someone to sell some of their small foods to people waiting in line at the Mummy?

No one seems to be pointing out that the card of daily stuff has all of the Happy Hours and Happy Hour places listed.

Wherever you enter, and at many of the merchants you can pick up the Map and Guide. On the same stand, they have a white 2 sided card that is the "Attraction & Show Times" card. From my experience it is generally a one week time frame.

It lays out the Park Hours, Show Times, Character Locations and "Special Hours" stuff on the front - Special hours means either the ride is closed, open only on weekends, or has a later opening time, etc.

on the reverse ( or continuing _ ) is more info. Every time, I have found that the next section headed "Happy Hour" lists where, and when, the happy hours occur in each of the two parks. I will also let you know that we have been taking our "Souvenier Beer Glasses" with us, and find that usually a minimal (i.e., $1.25 fee for Guiness) happens during Happy Hour. It seems like each place in each park has their own time frames, within each week. We havefound that all of the info on these Attraction and Show Times cards always is correct. so look for the card, and enjoy!:wave2:

>>> Good point about the cards but they only list happy hour times on that card for IOA and not US. Who kows why.

Anyway - here is a major HH update:

Some places are now charging $7 to fill the refillable glass and $3.50 during happy hour!!! I was outraged (ok maybe I'm exaggerating a little)!!!

The strange thing is that this only happened at Alcatraz. We went to Finnegans and then over to backwater and the enchanted oak and the prices were the same as the regular glass. Strange. One bartender (I forget where) said it was up to the manager of each place to decide how much to charge. What?? That's very strange.

Also, at US Happy Hour started at 3 at all of the locations. Not the usual 2pm at alcatraz.

Another major change- Finnegans is only offering $1 off imports for happy hour NOT 1/2 price anymore. That means our Guinness will be around $5 at happy hour.

Oh well it may be my last trip there for a few years so I guess it doesn't matter. I'll be paying $5-$7 all the time at Disney.

We're going Tomorrow (friday ) without kids!!!

We will definielty be checking out the happy hour and may report back. This will probably be our last time going to Universal for a while. Our passes expire next week. Boo-Hoo. Oh well off to Disney :earsboy: we go. I'll have to start a Disney happy hour thread on the other forum. It should be pretty short though ;)

Hi fellow UniAddict!
I was just fixing to search for this thread too. How 'bout a "send-off drink" at Monster Cafe Sat. pm?
Probably our only Mardi visit this year, gotta have a bowl of gumbo before the parade starts too!

Bump....

Heading down in about a month and plan to take full advantage of the happy hours at Universal!

Keep the info flowing.......

I imagine they're the usual from last year. 3pm to 5pm at most places, some 6pm. If you go into 1 bar and ask what the specials are, the bartender will usually know what they are for all the bars in the park. Then you can scribble it all down on a piece of paper and bring it home. Last summer, all the bars ran happy hour from 3pm to 7pm. I'm going in June, and can't wait to ride the Mummy after slamming down a Long Island at Finnegans.

Lately HH has been going to closing time at the main places.

My passes expired last week so - no more happy hour for me!! (said like the soup nazi)

:Pinkbounc lets have happy hour now, lol and listen to Jimmy Buffett disneykid:wave: :wave2: ::yes::

Happy Hour at Universial is the best! Went to Dinsey/MGM 1 month ago and asked the bartender if they have a happy hour and the bartender said "every hour were is happy". Kind of funny but goes to show you Disney likes to get every last cent from you.
