I just now read this thread. All I can say is people sure do love their alcohol. And Universal is very "beer friendly". Afterall, they've been having a BeerFest for 4 years now and they've all been successful. You can blame the morning DJs on 101.1 for bringing the BeerFest. LOL. :p

I've heard interesting things about it. I might try to work there this year (especially if they approve OT for it) for "reasons" I've heard from those that have worked it in the past. :p

Sure, If you think waiting 5 minutes in line for 2 oz' of beer is awesome.

We went last year and were pretty disappointed. They let way too many people in and the cups are way to small. You spend the entire day in line begging the beer wenches for a few extra ounces (gotta love the sam adams girls). I would much prefer to have a larger cup of a few select beers and enjoy them somewhere then continually waiting in line for your next 2 oz.

With that said we still had a pretty good time early in the day. It was getting kind of ugly near the end of the day when it was getting really crowded and people were getting really drunk.

No, I don't...but I've been the past 2 years and while last year was crowded and they had problems with running out of beer and such, this year, we went early in the day and we didn't wait in line for anything...

I don't recommend showing up at night on the Sat. night, because it does draw large crowds and gets kind of crazy, but during the day, it was downright awesome.

I guess that's what bars are for! ;)

We enjoyed being able to sample the huge variety and with 150 different drinks, 2 oz of each is more than enough! LOL Although, we got more than one of our favorites. :)

How about mixed drinks during happy hour? Not a beer drinker but I love just about anything else. Are mixed drinks sold at every bar. Any feedback on booze selection at NASCAR cafe?

We'll have to check on the mixed drink front...I know Margaritaville offers a cheapo margarita during happy hour. We'll check to see if they offer anything besides beer and wine anywhere else.

As for booze selection, NASCAR has a very good selection, though most of it is in the speed racks so it's hard to see...they always have the latest and greatest (trendy) liquors though, so I think you'll be happy there!
Any brand in particular you fancy??? ;)

Almost anything, Long Island Iced Tea, Rum and Coke, Screwdrivers, anything! Thanks!

Minor interest?

The only reason they acheived "Important" status is because we got so many questions about the subjects stuck at the top of the page! Sorreeee...

And no, only mods and WMs can "stick" a thread. Otherwise we'd have pages and pages and PAGES of "important" threads.

And since I've been INSULTED... THIS one will remain :p floating...

We'll just have to keep bumping it then!:p

How about 7&7's?:bounce:

There's a Mardi Gras drink with rum in a souvenir goblet for $8. Haven't tried it yet, but I vow to knock down as many as Robin does next week-end!

You might want to make that deal with someone else, Jim. The strongest thing I drink is KoolAid with lemon!

Can I get that with an umbrella?
:p

Don't look at me!!!

I'll try to match him beer for beer, but there is no way I'm going down the Hurricane road with him!!! (actually, I think they aren't hurricanes this year...but it's something similar)

Of course, either way, I'm toast!!!

Going this weekend, I'll try to remember all the specials and deals.

If I remember correctly, mixed drinks are 2 for 1 at happy hour. I was in the backwater bar next to Deuling Dragons, ordered a Long Island, and the bar tender put two glasses on the table and filled them up, yes. Think it was $6, plus the $1 tip, that was worth it.

Can anyone tell me when beerfest is. We will be there in October so please say October.

Well, I could say October, but I'd be lying, I'm afraid

Sorry, it's been in Nov. the past 2 years that I know of...right around Veteran's day weekend, I believe.

But Halloween Horror Nights are in Oct., so that's good! :)

Ooh, November - that's great!! I'm going the 5th thru the 13th, and I believe Veteran's Day is the 10th or 11th so hopefully I'll hit Beerfest this year!

I almost forgot to ask in my excitement! lol! How does it work? Do you pay a cover charge to get in or do you pay as you go?

Sounds like fun!:bounce:
