Happy happy happy! trip story from Feb 2012

Molly, that sounds like a good way to eat up snow time. I am glad Robert is coming over to your way of thinking.

Sherry, the first part of their trip is at Disneyland. Then they are going to Florida.

Oh, you know, now that you mention it, I do recall reading about the DL portion of the trip (which is going to be fairly brief, correct?). I saw it in an e-mail update alert. Since I can't remember when exactly I read it (last week, the week before that or whenever), I think I was not clear on the fact that it was set in stone as a definite plan.

I also remember reading your post, Michele, asking if Molly & family would be able to be so close to WDW and not visit it - which would have been my question too! ;)

The reason I remember was because I had wondered if we were going to cross paths.

I could not imagine going that near Disney and not go. I couldn't do it.

I am waffling with the idea of buying AP's in Feb. or March since we'll be in Anaheim Feb. 17th and 18th. We're going to Knott's on the 17th and then having a celebration of some sort with DS, DDIL and her parents that evening. BUT, we are free the 18th and staying at the BW Stovall's and wondering if we should possibly get our AP's 2 weeks before we planned and surprise our kids with 1 day at DLR!

I'm sure I would get 3 day hoppers so we can do MM and then upgrade that day to the AP's. There are NO blockouts the week we are planning on being in DLR with our BFFs in March, so that is not an obstacle.

The only obstacle is do we get an AP for DS15 - he's going on a band trip to DLR in March and can get a $150 2 day hopper pass that includes the clinic at DL and we want to go as a family in the summer since that works with his schedule. The prices are a wash - one way costs $368 (no AP, just tickets) and the other $379 (AP, pay for clinic). The big question is - can I convince him to go with us in Oct. or Nov. and miss some school. Dilemma, dilemma....

Well, remember we have practice in being *right there* but not going, from last March, LOL. Plus, have you added up 2 adult and 1 child ONE day tickets at WDW? Fainting....and there's no discounts on those at all..... (wait, maybe I'd better check to be sure)

The trip is as follows:

the 4th, Anabella (free night with hotels.com...we may or may not enter Disneyland on this day, depends on Robert's level of exhaustion and if he cares if E and I "leave" him);

the 5th through 9th (leaving that morning quite early) at PPH;

the 9th at Boardwalk Villa, one bedroom, for laundry purposes (which I'm now regretting b/c of the *being near Epcot thing* but we borrowed points for it, and that's a final transaction so we might as well use them...but I'm wishing I'd used another free night at hotels.com for the Hyatt and just paid for laundry);

the 10th through 16th (leaving that morning) at Portofino Bay.

It's the 10th whose plans are now a bit up in the air. I started to realize how LONG we'll be at Universal, and suddenly realized that it might very well not be sunbathing weather (stupid me, didn't think about this), and we love the pastries in "Norway" and we like Epcot and and and......

I haven't written much about Disneyland Resort b/c, well, everything is very scattered right now. And, until today, I've been too nervous for the funding for the whole trip, LOL. Stock-grant-vesting will be on the 15th, and I've just been nervous that *something* would happen to interfere with it all. it's why I didn't book packages, because I wanted to make sure that we'd have the money for it. :headache::rolleyes1

Shannon, I say go for it!!

Molly, the price of tickets is prohibitive. I am amazed at how much they all cost now.

Michele, thanks for enabling me. :thumbsup2

The other problem that I run into is that my parents will be with us and I'm not sure if they are leaving Sat. or Sun. since they have further to drive than we do. So, it will probably stay up in the air for a couple more weeks and I'll have to waffle back and forth and drive myself crazy! :confused:

Shannon,

It's too bad I can get paid to enable. I have it perfected.:rotfl: I keep waffling myself. I am right now leaning towards getting myself one because I am kind of planning to going down over the summer to meet up with a friend. I love the discounts.

Yay, I told family that we'll be in Orlando, and they are excited. Hopefully the cousins will choose to spend a day at Universal, because that would be fun. I think that the adults would have a GREAT time. It would actually work out really well, if it was just the peers and the kids, because the cousins could take Eamon onto the coasters he's tall enough for (b/c Robert can't go yet and I'm scared of them), while we took the littles into the areas they would feel most comfy going. A parent swap! :rotfl:

And now that makes me wonder, is there anyone I should let know that we'll be in Anaheim? Anyone that *likes* Disneyland, that is (we have some people who don't choose to go there). HS friend, college friend...seems about it, neither one of them chooses to go there really...hmm.

Oh that's great!! I am glad to hear that. I really hope that they will go to Universal with you that would be fun for all of you.

So did family decide to not go on the Disney Cruise? I thought I read they were doing one around the same time as your trip to FL.? :confused3

I think parent swap is an excellent idea! :thumbsup2

Cruise is the 9th through the 12th. So they'll be back before we go. We would have thought about the cruise if it wasn't departing on the day we'll be flying x-country. (though...the price in and of itself wasn't bad, but since it's for only 3 full days the value wasn't as high as I normally would have liked, and it would have been a complicated decision)

I'm obviously not explaining myself very well recently, as I'm just confusing everyone! At home, too. When I emailed my aunt (in response to an email about other stuff) to tell her about our trip, I made sure to read it out to Robert, to make sure I was saying things correctly. I think I need to do that with all methods of communication! :goodvibes

I like a little "light snow mist". :)

I wondered if you got hit hard by the snow! It's supposed to be coming our way in the next day, I think. We haven't had any yet this season, so we are way behind in our snow fall totals.

Don't worry about the scattered/miscommunication here - we understand. You are probably just tired and scattered about your upcoming trip and R being gone again. Not to worry! :hug:

After all day yesterday being bright and sunny and not wet at all, that light snow mist finally started in the wee hours of the morning (hubby and I were up playing Harry Potter Years 5-7 videogame, b/c I was right and I'm a total addict, and there are many good reasons I've kept myself from videogames all these years...on the other hand, I have almost a million points, most earned in a few hours last night), and as we slept it dumped snow all over.

Robert's home, working here today; alas, this involves a hours long conference call. NOT fun to listen to, that's all I have to say. His group isn't madly in love with each other, and it comes across in voices. :headache:

E and I are going to get bundled up and get outside! I'm amazed at the relative number of cars I hear going by, though. The street I can hear is a hill, and it's relatively shocking that there are that many people who can drive up and down it! Guess it's all the Coloradans out and about today. :)

Because of the work trip, Robert might not even be able to join us in the parks on the first day, which is sad. He's going to be SO exhausted.

I hope you and E have fun in the cold.

I am addicted to video games. When I play I can play for hours and I don't even realize it.

Poor R. Vacation will be good for him. Time to not work or stick to a schedule.

Today it felt like "ice rain". Painful to get in your eye! But so gorgeous to see all the ice covering the branches and leaves and cars that are parked.

Where we live gives us instant entertainment with weather like this, watching all the people thinking they are better drivers in better cars than they actually are... Surrounded by concrete-covered hills, you know.

Oh I can imagine that you do get quite a show. What is it about wet weather that brings out the idiot in normally sane drivers?

Yep, it's very weird. And some people were out in some very nice cars! No chains, no snow tires, no front wheel drive...and thinking that they could get out. Long slow inclines one way...tall and still rather long inclines the other way...I don't think so! While walking along the street, we kept seeing people having to go back home...go one way, all fast and confident, then back again, shamefaced and slowly, hoping their parking spot wasn't taken.

Along with the videogame, I'm also FINALLY learning to knit. It's like my brain is expanding! Decided that E and I would both learn together, and the second day we were both almost in tears b/c the videos we were watching (even the really slow ones) just looked like magic. After nearly banging my head into the table, I ran and grabbed the Rescue Remedy spray (a sort of homeopathic, flower essence, spray thing that really really helps to calm people (and cats!) down), gave us spritzes, then 2 minutes later we were actually doing it!

We've both finished a little sampler piece, made some mistakes, learned from them...tomorrow E will get to "bind off" his little sampler, and then he can decide what he wants to make.

It's like I can feel my mind stretching along with the yarn, as I make this whatever it is I'm making. So cool. :goodvibes

**************

So.......

Cast your votes for what our Very First Ride will be, on the 4th when E and I (and maybe R) enter one of the parks for the first time together since '09. :wizard:

I would say GRR but I know that is in rehab. So I am going to go with Indiana Jones!!
