Happy Hannukah!

Guess what we're having for lunch today? LOL

Usually we have it with apple sauce. I like mustard too.

really ??? Mustard??? I have never heard of that.. we are an applesauce family..

Three candles are aglow!

Keep the happy thread going!

I was looking at the ancient prayer that is recited on Chanukah. It is included in the portion of the prayer service dealing with giving thanks to G*D. It is also recited in grace after meals. It is quite beautiful, and really gets to the heart of the holiday.

For the miracles, for the rescue, for the strong acts, for the victories, and for the battles that You did for our forefathers in those days, at this time of year.

It happened in the days of Mattithias (Matitsyahu) - the son of Yochanan the High Priest, from the Hasmonean family - and his sons. The wicked Greek kingdom arose against your Jewish people and tried to make them forget Your Torah and break You laws. But with Your great mercy, You stood up for the Jews in their time of trouble. You fought their battle, You judged their case, You took revenge on behalf of them. You placed the stronger (Syrian-Greeks) in the hands of the weak, the many into the hands of the few, the impure into the hands of the pure, the wicked into the hands of the righteous, the sinners into the hands of those involved with Your Torah.

You made Yourself a great & holy Name in Your world. For Your people, Israel, You made a great victory and rescue, as clear as this very day. Then Your children entered Your Holy Temple, cleaned out Your Sanctuary, purified Your Holy Place, and kindled lights in its courtyards. Then they instituted these eight days of Chanukah for thanksgiving and praise of Your Great Name.

Now, isn't that nicer than Adam Sandler's song?

Yikes! I forgot to post the 4th candle! I've been setting up for our grand family Chanukah party today!

Five candles tonight! My 3 year old son said, "Wow, we have so much light tonight!"

We have a kosher Dunkin' Donuts in town - they can't keep up with the jelly donuts orders!

Chanuka Sameach!

Happy Hannakah. I would be interested in hearing more of the stories of the 8 days.

We went to a Hannukah / Christmas dinner last night. We went down to Key Largo, which was really nice. No latkes or doughnuts, though. :scared1:

OK, lit 7 candles tonight. One more night to go.

Hope all are enjoying!

Do we have enough candles for the last night? There's only a few candles left in the box ... LOL.

Ugh, one more Chanuka dinner party tonight. I'm getting sick. The latkes are undoubtedly stuck to every one of my arteries.

I think I need to institute a post-Chanukah fast day.

Or a Pepto-only day.

We only did latkes one day. Another night we did potato knishes. Does that count as Hannukah food?

Ok! We made it all 8 days of Chanukah!

Remember, even though the candle lighting is done, tomorrow is still Chanukah until evening. Get it in while you can!

See you next Jewish holiday: Tu B'Shevat! (Feb. 9th)
