I got home earlier today and my mike pumpkin is slumping.. its mushy too Oh well.

You reminded me when you mentioned the slumping & mushy Mike pumpkin - did you ever see the Food Network competition show called Food Network Challenge, where there are a bunch of pastry chefs/bakers making Disney-Pixar cakes? The winning cake ended up being the very elaborate, too-cool-to be-eaten Finding Nemo cake, and the runner up was, I THINK, A Bug's Life and then Toy Story (or maybe the Toy Story and Bug's Life cakes were in switched around, but doesn't matter!). The guy who labored over the Monsters, Inc. cake lost because he had Mike sitting on top of Sully's head or shoulders, and the weight of the cake was pulling Mike downward. The chef tried everything to save the cake from falling apart, but gravity took its toll. Mike tipped over, taking a chunk of Sully's head and upper torso with him, and it all sat in a big blue & purple blob of goo on the table! Talk about slumping and mushy!!!

Oh I knowww !!! I watched that Cake Challenge when it first showed. I felt so bad for him too because he looked so frustrated and upset. You spend all this time trying to prepare for this epic event, and you fail with nothing you can do to save it. So sad!

I felt really bad for him too, though I think his cake idea was kind of poorly thought out. I am always so impressed with the elaborate cakes people make (Disney and otherwise), and they are really too clever and interesting to eat. I would almost feel bad eating a slice of that winning Nemo cake because it was so artfully made. But I wonder what really happens to these masterpieces once they are done. I would imagine that the chefs have a sense of sadness when it is all over, because their creation will either end up in the trash or eaten. (How do master floral artists feel when they design a great floral arrangement, only to have it die in a week?) Some edible ingredients are not necessarily that tasty, though (i.e., the sail that comes with the Flying Dutchman at the Blue Bayou and the Mickey pumpkin stuck on top of the pumpkin muffin), so if any of that stuff is on the cakes, I wonder if a lot of it goes to waste because people can't stomach eating it!

Your pumpkins are so cute! Too bad about the mushyness! That is why I did my Jack and Sally pumpkins in the fake pumpkins. I did them for my wedding but some one forgot to bring them to the site. I will have to grab a picture of them they turned out so cool!

LOL was he whiny on your walk? hehe Sorry your pumpkins are mushy already, that's sucky. We always carve ours right before Halloween so we were working on ours last night. I haven't even started mine yet.....

No, he's usually happy all the rest of the time In fact he's sleeping on my legs right now

My mom told me I should have waited until it was closer to halloween to carve my pumpkins, but I wouldn't have any other time this week !

He's a persistent whiner when he does do it. It can be for an hour and he'd still be whining !!! Its amazing how I still love that crazy dog !! I guess we can't help it when our dogs are the way they are !
