Aside from wearing the most comfortable shoes you have, what's the best way to keep your feet from aching during a marathon day at the parks? Or what's the best way to soothe aching feet once you're back to your hotel room?

I've had problems with my feet since I broke one in high school and remember how bad my feet hurt during my last trip to DW. So, I'm looking for any tips or remedies that might help. TIA!

HI!

I always change my socks once a day...the cushiony kinda socks...ankle or calf length..depends on what you are wearing.

And first thing in the morning I always take 2 extra strength Bayer. (ibuprofen, tylenol, advil...whatever it is you can take). And then around 3 pm i take 2 more. It always helps.

After your long day, run the bathtub with the hottest water you can stand and throw in some foot soothing salts. MAN, ITS THE BEST!

I'm a big fan of the Johnson's Foot Soak. Put it in a basin of hot water and dunk your feet.

I tried to switch shoes halfway through the day. THis was our first trip to Disneyland, so I really wasn't sure what to expect, but I was prepared for the worst!

I wore my very broken in athletic shoes in the mornings, then swapped to either Crocs or flip-flops for the afternoon/evening. I had tired, sore feet, but no blisters or anything serious. I noticed on days when I did not swap shoes (because we stayed in the park all day) my feet hurt a lot more. Rather than wearing my tennies two days in a row then, I switched to the flip-flops for the morning, Crocs in the evening, and it worked out great!

Now, one day early on my BACK was killing me! After a good stretch at bedtime with DH's help and some pain relievers, I was nearly good as new the next morning.

What was I thinking?? I thought for some reason this thread would be about the new movie Happy Feet that is coming out in November!! Well anyway, I wear my crocs constantly in the parks and I now have my whole family hooked. Hubby wore his sneakers for 1/2 day then changed to his crocs and kept them on the entire 9 days! Plus I make sure I take a couple Aleve tablets about 2:00. That usually carries me through the evening. :thumbsup2

ok,
this was my first trip with happy feet in i dont know how long. the past 5 trips or so, i have had a terrible time with my heels hurting, huge terrible blisters and ankle pain. so this trip, i decided to try yes, you have it - crocs!!! i brought a pair of caymans and a pair of scutes for my trip this year! well, this was the first time i didnt have to soak them in the pool every night and have DH wiggle my ankles and stretch my heels for me due to the pain. i also brought along everything else everyone says like body glide, blister pads, bandaids, liquid bandaid etc.....i did use body glide most days, but it does make your feet feel funny for a while, especially when its hot out. last year as we walked through the orlando airport on our way home, i was almost in tears,,,,this year i was happily buying some jibbitz for my crocs at the croc store!!!!! so i was sooooo happy to have happy feet!!! made all the difference in the world for me!! yes they are ugly, but seriously a ton of people were wearing them~! :cool1:

I used to be the blister, feet killing me Queen!

Then I did my research and through trial and error have come up with what works for me.

I have a whole zip lock bag of goodies I bring to Disney for my feet.

First, I wear my Teva Pretty Rugged Leather (and nylon) sandals.

Second, I take Motrin every morning for the pain and swelling. Again later if needed.

Third, in the AM I spray my shoes with Gold Bond Maximum Strength Foot Spray (peppermint, great!)

Fourth, in the AM I put Bodyglide on my feet where I normally would get blisters (hot spots).

I bring the Bodyglide with me just in case I need more (its also great for chafing as well).

Fifth, I alternate my shoes daily between the Teva Pretty Rugged Leather and nylon and I bring flip flops for the pool.

Sixth, when I get back to the hotel at night, I soak my feet in hot water.

Seventh, after I've soaked my feet or awhile, I top my feet off with Dr. Scholl's For Her Cooling Peppermint Foot Lotion

Lastly, I also bring some pre-cut moleskins for those hot spots 'just in case' but haven't needed them in the last 4 or 5 trips.

No more blisters for me and each morning my feet are ready to go again!

Another good thing to do is to elevate your legs when possible, such as propping your feet on the back of a chair, or the wall, when you are relaxing in your room.

I've got a little plastic blow up foot bath that came from Avon that I wouldn't go to WDW without. Jafra makes some great peppermint foot products that I also always carry. After long day in the parks I take a really hot bath with lavender bath salts for aches and pains, then get out and soak my feet in the foot bath that has really hot water and the jafra peppermint soak lotion in it. Then I rub my feet down with jafra peppermint mask and cover them with a towel for awhile. After that rub them down with jafra peppermint lotion and the next day they're ready to go. In the morning I rub them down with Avon antiblister balm, then apply Arrid cream antipersperant over them. Wear comfortable shoes like Teva Mush flip flops and you're feet will thank you.

What I've been doing for years, is Absorbine Jr. After evening shower, rub some on feet and calves, works for me but some do not like the smell. After the shower, it feels tingly and cool, helps on those aching calf muscles and we've used it on them annoying no see um bug itches.
