Happy ending..doesn't happen often!!

We always make sure before we leave any hotel room that we hide the favorite toys, stuffed animals. No way would I leave them on the bed.

Glad your bear was found.

We try to do this as well, as most likely the OP does but nobodys perfect and things happen. With my two dd's and a couple lovies each as well as the stuff they buy at wdw I know how easy it is to leave a stuffie in the bed. I am glad things worked out for the OP, thanks for sharing.

Well, a lot of tears would have been saved if the animal had been accounted for before they left the room. Maybe someone else will think twice about rushing out of the room and not leaving stuff in the bed that is important? Why should it be up to the mousekeeper to keep track of stuff in the bed?

That's ok. I'll make sure to substitute your name for someone else's the next time there is talk about walking on water.

Maybe you are feeling a little frustration because this may have happened to you with no good outcome? Did you learn a hard lesson from this?

Most people who go to WDW tend to want to look for the good things in life not the negative. And my guess is that Mousekeeping has probably dealt with WORSE things than just a stuffed animal in the bed.

Anyway I will get off my high horse and go back to sorting MY laundry. OBTW sometimes these "stuffed animals" are all that kids will hold onto into their adult lives that remind them of happy times. My DD still has her "mr. bear" and she's 16. We did lose him once and it was very traumatic but it was the HOUSEKEEPER who noticed him and had the hotel Customer Service call to let me know that he had been found.

Thank you for your reply, it was a mistake and we will never take something that important again. We did not "carelessly" leave him in the sheets nonchalantly. I picked up the towels everyday and put them in the sink (so housekeeping does not have to bend over) ;) and am VERY tidy. I do not "EXPECT" housekeeping to deal our two stuffed animals. It was however, an unpleasant surprise when it was gone. Honost mistake.

Thank your for understanding. I just wanted to share some great news and give others a little hope! P.S. I LOVED your opening line ! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well sorry you didn't like my first reply but I guess you stand by your words, negative or not :confused3 I think the OP story had a positive vibe and also a little warning about being careful. There is no way that people account for every little thing all the time. Mistakes happen and that is life. I am glad your dd's stuffed animals have always been secure but what if a mousekeeper threw all the sheets on the chair to clean something real quick and accidently picked up one of your dd's animals while picking the sheets back up? How about if one of the stuffed animals fell on the floor and was semi sucked up in the vacuum? I mean come on - things happen. Life is too short to be so harsh.

Nope, never happened to us because, as I posted before, we make sure that the animals are lined up (the radiator by the window is a good place too) and that all are accounted for. We have lost a sock or two, but we do not consider them irreplaceable.

I'm happy the OP got the beloved animal back. I know how devastated my DD would be if she lost her stuffed Oliver cat, especially since they are not made any more. We also had to contact the American Girl Doll "hospital" once because they sent the wrong doll back after repairing an eyeball. They gave my daughter a new Kirsten doll, but she wanted the old one, as it meant so much to her. So I understand how attached kids can become to inanimate objects. That's why we always strip the bed before we leave, and check the drawers and cabinets at least twice, and look under the beds as well. As I said before, we did lose a sock or two (most likely when someone took our laundry, still wet, out of a dryer and stole our remaining time) but that's all we have ever lost in countless trips, because we have a routine set up that the whole family knows and follows. It works everywhere we go, and we've traveled to Canada, United Kingdom, Norway, and across the US, and I'm not talking EPCOT :lmao:

Oh yes, and if I was a Christian (which I am not) I'd probably find your first line insulting.

Ok, Yeah. Back to the original subject. My daughter lost two of her beanie baby kitties at POR last month. Is there a central number one can call? We filled out a lost and found form, but I'd love to make a follow up phone call or email.

To the OP -
Glad it all worked out :-)!

For those who are concerned @ losing a child's "lovey" -

I would consider leaving it at home & perhaps just taking a photo of the bear/beanie/etc with you. Maybe buy a special stuffed toy at WDW & your child can have that for night-time cuddling while at WDW.

agnes!

That is great! I think they really try to return things to their owners. I left my cell phone charger at Coronodo Springs last year and they mailed it back.

I just have to smile at this :)

That would not work with my dd's, no lovie no sleepie!! I can't even imagine trying to get my youngest to sleep at 15mos with a picture of her blankie :)

Yeah, it sure wouldn't work with the younger set!
I was thinking more of a slightly older child, 1st Grade or so. It's something I did with my DD when she was going to grade school. I took a photo of her lovey, then put the photo in her backpack. That made her feel better, plus she didn't have to worry about a peer finding out about her lovey and then getting teased.

agnes!
