We stayed at the Poly last week and one afternoon came back to find my son's little bear missing (obviously was taken w/ the sheets when they were changed.) We reported it on April 6. We did not leave until April 10 but no word yet. I just called them and he has been found!!!!!!! He will be retruning home this week!!!! We have tried to make light of it (the waiting) by saying "no fair, bear gets to stay longer at Disney!" So if anyone else has children that have lost a loved one on their trip -- KEEP THE FAITH---- sometimes there is a happy ending!!!! I had to call them though, I wouldn't wait for them to call!

Thanks! I just wish more stories turned out this way!!!!! Those poor little ones who don't get their cherished one back breaks my heart!!!! We used this as a lesson though,, important things STAY HOME from now on!!! LOL

Good for you! I'm worried the same thing will happen with Madeline - my daughter's ragdoll. DH and I have talked about leaving her home but DD wouldn't know what to do without her. She thinks Madeline will be going with her to preschool next year.

So ... I bought Madeline a princess dress on Ebay and she will be going with. Just not into the parks! I've got a Pal Mickey for that...

In hind sight I believe my son would have been fine w/o bear, he was sooo exhausted at the end of the evening he went right to sleep, w/ or w/out him. I would never take something soo important again. Just too valuable to loose!!!!!! (and it's so easy to do, even when you are very careful, I've read of cherished blankets and animals never being found) :sad2:

My DD lost her little kitten beanie baby last Sept, we never got it back. However, last weekend I found one just like it at a yard sale! I gave it to my DD and told her little Friskey had finally found her way home - she must have wanted to stay at Disney, but missed us so much she finally decided to come home.

Wow-that's so similar to our story. My daughter lost her white beanie kitten (Fancy) on the last day of our vacation in Dec. 2002. She got picked up with the sheets. We left 4 beanies in the bed and returned to only 3. Of course, this was my daughter's favorite. I called housekeeping, and they assured me that it would turn up. I even sent them a follow-up letter. (No response) I told my DD4 that Fancy would be home soon. I looked and looked for that cat everywhere, but she was "retired" and hard to find. Lo and behold, my sister found "Fancy" in Las Vegas later that month. It seems that Disney had accidently sent her to my sister (at least this is what my DD believed). Anyway, while Disney didn't come through, my sister did, and my DD truly believes in Disney Magic.

We've only lost 3 items over the years. On the same trip, first night, we lost a small stuffed Pearl (from Nemo) in Epcot. She never showed up. And the only other thing we lost was my DD autograph book at AK by the conservation train. Even though I made several trips and calls to Lost and Found, the book never turned up (who would keep a little girl's book?). :sad2: However, Disney Magic did come through and several weeks after we returned home we received a surprise in the mail. No, it wasn't the original book, but it was a new book with all the autographs I could think of along with a handwritten note saying sorry they couldn't find hers.... :cheer2: One thing I learned from the book experience was don't have the same book for several trips. Our lost book covered several years trips.

so glad you were able to find a way to make it "better"! It is sooo heartbreaking when they leave behind something so cherished! (Especially when housekeeping takes it.) When he was opening the envelope today, I was praying, please be the right one, please be the right bear! The best wishes to all of you in the same situation!! :cheer2:

Why do people leave the stuffed animals in the sheets to begin with? It's like asking for them to be lost...

DD has always taken a pile of stuffed animals with her (and gotten more there) on our WDW trips, but I have always had her arrange them on a chair in the morning to make sure they wouldn't get lost in the housecleaning. How annoying it must be for the mousekeepers to have to get all the stuffed animals and such out of the sheets!

We always make sure before we leave any hotel room that we hide the favorite toys, stuffed animals. No way would I leave them on the bed.

Glad your bear was found.

After our Poly stay we came home to find a letter from the Poly that we left something beind...DD's favorite bunny. They mailed it to us shortly thereafter.

wow - that is AWESOME!!!! :cool1: :cool1: Gotta love Disney.

How did they know it was yours? Did you have your name on it? Reading this post reminds me how important it is to write down names on tags of anything you might lose, even in your room. We try and fit in DH's cell phone number too.

Congrats - lucky bear spent almost a month in Disney :rotfl2:

Well IMO, this wasn't needed here. I am sure the OP or anyone else does not mean to leave their stuffed animals on the beds and I am sure most mousekeepers push them off the bed or on a table before taking the sheets. Accidents do happen, especially in the morning rush of getting to MK on time :moped: Oh, and I am sure there are much more annoying things that the mousekeepers deal with then stuffed animals on the beds. Jeez!!

If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!!

To the OP - congrats!!!

Well, a lot of tears would have been saved if the animal had been accounted for before they left the room. Maybe someone else will think twice about rushing out of the room and not leaving stuff in the bed that is important? Why should it be up to the mousekeeper to keep track of stuff in the bed?

I lost my beloved teddy in 1993 at Port Orleans. I left him in the sheets, and he got taken with the rest of the blankets. We let the staff know and they tried to find him, but never did. I think Mousekeeping felt bad because for the rest of the trip they left all kinds of towel animals all over the room.

After we got home, my dad wrote a letter to Disney, pleading with them to find the bear. He told them I wasn't sleeping, crying, etc, etc. It was an exaggeration, but I wanted that bear! They never found it though. I think my parents felt worse than I did. :rotfl:
