I just wanted to pop in and say Happy Easter to all my friends!!

What's on the menu?

Where's dinner for you?

What's your family traditions?

What do you think of when you think Easter?

Just thought it might be fun......
Anyone want to play?

I'll start....

Ham, ma's mac and cheese, corn and peas, potatos, buns,
and about a zillion deserts!!

Dinner is at my oldest sisters house this year. Her turn.

Traditions - quite a few.....
Strawberry shortcake with homemade whipped cream and STORE
bought shells. MA made it the best.
And gifts. MA made every holiday an excuse to buy us tons of stuff.
So I did just that for my bubba. And my nieces kids as well.

For me when I think Easter I think coloring eggs, jelly beans, spring, alive, all new, fresh, new outfits, pretty dresses, hats,.....
Lots of things I guess!!!

This is my first Easter without MA and I missing her so incredibly much today that it hurts. I wish I had known that last year would be her last.
I hope I do it justice without her here. I only hope that I make it as nice for bubba as she made it for us.

What's on the menu? Whatever the people whose houses I go to make. Although I am making an adorable Sunflower Cake with peeps for dessert.

Where's dinner for you? We will eat at high noon at the ILs and then go to my sister's. She says dinner is 3:00, but that means 4:30 or so in her world. We'll be hungry again by then.

What's your family traditions? Decorating eggs the day before, my grandmother's green bean casserole (any and all holidays!), if the weather cooperates - an egg hunt at my sister's.

What do you think of when you think Easter? Easter makes me think of spring and rebirth. All the new baby animals and the earth coming back after a long sleep.

I wish I had had more of a chance to see you today...I wish I could take away the hurt, even for just a few minutes. She knows you love her and miss her.

What's on the menu? Normally I would do a spiral ham, smashed pototoes, green beans but this year we came to the Cape to finish opening up my mom's vacation home. We started doing it two weeks ago but got called home suddenly, the house was half finished. This year we are going to have stuffed chicken breast from Trader Joes and a spinach salad.

Where's dinner for you? Dinner will be in my most restful place on the Cape.

What's your family traditions? Family traditions are decorating easter eggs and having an easter egg hunt. DD always gets an easter basket. I boiled a dozen eggs Friday, but I can't find where I put the coloring kit.:confused3 I think we are going to do the Easter festivities next Sunday. Life just got too choatic for me this week.

What do you think of when you think Easter? Without getting too in depth, I'll just say new beginnings.

Holly, I know your Mom is watching you, her presence is with you, she is everywhere you are.

HAPPY EASTER

What's on the menu? Well it will be a potluck of all kinds of things- I am sure ham but I have no idea what else other than the chocolate covered strawberries that I made

Where's dinner for you? We are going to join a large family from our church down at a picnic spot on their property near the river.

What's your family traditions? Well my family had lots of traditions growing up- most of which I won't have tomorrow. The only one we are doing tomorrow is going to services.
Some of my favorites from childhood:
We always started our day with mass- I loved singing Jesus Christ is Risen today to open things up (we are doing that tomorrow- I choose the songs out now)
After services we headed home for all our family traditions. First we talked about the reason for Easter- we talked about Jesus being our treasure and then had a treasure hunt- on the Saturday before Easter each of us would be creating the clues for one of our brothers/sisters to follow. The hunt would have about 5 stops and use secret codes, pictures, riddles, and personal jokes to lead us from 1 place to another. We got a little something at each stop and then our basket was at the end of the hunt.
Following the treasure hunt we would all stay in an interior room while mom and dad hid plastic eggs all over the yard. We would be given a number of eggs to find (there was always an even number of eggs for each of the 5 of us) and then we would search for them.
Dinner was always chicken kiev, mashed potatoes, and vegies.

What do you think of when you think Easter?
Well Jesus is always the center of our celebration- so that is what I think of- an empty cross.

I'll play...

What's on the menu? DH is cooking up "surprises" :confused3 I asked him what those big white onions were for and he said he "couldn't find the pearl ones that the recipe called for, so I'm going to substitute" :rotfl: I'll report back after...

Where's dinner for you? Home

What's your family traditions? Traditionally I cook a nice dinner and I do the bunny baskets. This year I have to work dayshift, so DH is cooking. The boys did their baskets, and DH didn't remember that I told him I got stuff, so yesterday he went out and got STUFF! Baskets are overflowing this year :lmao: I also always get a Easter Lilly or some other bulb in a pot with the pastel plastic over the pot. This year it is a lilly...so pretty!!

What do you think of when you think Easter? I remember all the family that isn't with us anymore. Going to Easter mass with my parents in the new spring Easter dress, white tights, mary jane's and a new lil purse just like mom's...sigh...

My turn!

What's on the menu? chicken & wild rice casserole, broccoli, and apple pie for dessert (plus the chocolate I'll steal from DS's basket!:rotfl:)

Where's dinner for you? Home

What's your family traditions? We usually color eggs the day before, but DS was gone most of yesterday so we'll either do them today or save the dye kit for next year. An egg hunt is always on the agenda. Sometimes it's little foil covered chocolate eggs and sometimes it's plastic eggs filled with something. This year, I've hidden plastic eggs with $$ inside for DS. And, of course, there's DS's Easter basket. The bunny always brings him a basket filled to overflowing. Gotta spoil my baby!

What do you think of when you think Easter? Spring, family, love

What's on the menu? Where's dinner for you? It's a surprise. We're eating at the home of the couple we always host for Christmas. She's Polish, so it could be anything! I'm taking Lime curd tart, and 5 cup salad, at DH's request.

What's your family traditions? I always buy dh a chocolate bunny. When our son lived in town, I made them an easter basket and delivered it while they were still sleeping. Now they've moved to Vegas, no more baskets :(

What do you think of when you think Easter? Spring!

Good morning, everyone!! Happy Easter to my dear friends!!

Holly--sending you lots of hugs today! Your mom is so proud of you, and looking at you and smiling!

What's on the menu?: Well, it's different this year. DH's bday is the end of March, and DBro's bday is the middle of April, so usually one of their birthdays is combined with Easter. Since DSIL is on bedrest, we had to wait on that, so with everyone just coming off of vacation, we're going to O'Charley's. Just gotta decide if I want brunch or lunch! If lunch, then definitely a black and bleu salad!!

Where's dinner for you?: O'Charley's

Family Traditions: Like a lot of you, we always did big Easter baskets and that sort of thing growing up. I've made sure the Easter Bunny got in here this am and left DS an Easter basket. DH also got one of those "carrot-shaped" things filled with Reese's Pieces! We hid eggs last year (yes, even when DS was 8 months old), and that's been done this year, too. I'm not sure he gets the idea, but we'll see!

What do you think of when you think of Easter?: Like most holidays, it's a day when I'm overwhelmed by my blessings. Even on those frustrating days, I know how very, very blessed I am. I think of Jesus, family church on Easter (when I was little), singing "Up from the Grave He Arose" (LOVE that!), and then I think about Easter when I was 4. . .I had a pretty dress, a great basket, and was ready to go to "my" church. AND THEN, something happened, and I had to go to my grandmother's and go to a church I didn't know and sit with them. Why? Oh, because of a little thing called "labor" and DBro arriving 3 weeks early! ;)

What's on the menu? Usually ham, potato salad, green bean casserole. But not this year.....

Where's dinner for you?......because we are going to Cracker Barrel if they are open. DH is headed to DC today.

What's your family traditions? baskets, an egg hunt, and going to mom's.

What do you think of when you think Easter?daffodils, warmer days, spring dresses, chocolate bunnies, and plastic easter hats circa 1978 LOL

Had to share my Peeps Sunflower cake!

OMG !!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
you rock my friend!

Happy Easter, everyone!

It is gorgeous here today - warm and beautifully sunny. The kids got their baskets this morning, then we did our traditional egg hunt outside (but this year, instead of candy that they never eat - I do! - inside, there were $$$ in those plastic eggs). They liked that, I think.

DH and I just ate our breakfast outside on the terrace - lovely!

Ham, scalloped potatoes, and veggies for dinner later.

Jen - great job on the cake. You'll make this again sometime for YOUR peeps, right? :rotfl2:

Only thing on the "to do" list today is box up Z2Hs and my Sketch Swap pages and get them ready to mail to AWM tomorrow morning. They are done!

Have a beautiful day, everyone...

What's on the menu?
I have started the ham, mash potatoes, veggie tray, cracker and cheese tray, mac -n- cheese, corn, dinner rolls, and cream cheese pie (cake)!!

Where's dinner for you? As is tradition here.. It's just the 5 or 7 of use depending upon the year.. This year it is the 7 of us.. 2 with attitudes because they didn't want to come.. I told them to stay home..but DH insisted they come.. :( We will make the best of it...

What's your family traditions? Traditions for us: I do all the baskets myself! Yup, 9 baskets.. Why 9? 3 for the kids' early Easter... and 5 for the big family celebration one opposite years, and 1 for DH and I to share.. because we are in the midst of the spring sports seasons, the kids asked for little candy..so that is what they got.. they did get a certificate to go bowling our next free weekend! ;)
Another tradition our annual easter egg dye day.. the day before.. We had a lot of fun.. Dh will hide the eggs after while, they are all out playing ball now. The year its only the 3 kids here, we do an basket treasure hunt to find their eggs.. they love it...

What do you think of when you think Easter? I always remember the year I was little..got up snuck the BIG ol' chocolate bunny and decorated my carpet w/ well, you know how it is when you stuff yourself! I think now more about my blessings and the fact that I love to still see the excitement on my kids' faces when they see their basket.. I think GOD for every day, I am (we are) blessed!!

Happy Easter!!

I LOVE that peep cake!! WAY too cute! That's next year here...if I'm off for Easter that is...

Happy Easter everyone! :goodvibes

What's on the menu? Ham, lasagna, sweet potatoes, all sorts fo delicious appetrizers, and of course... chicken fried rice! :rotfl:

Where's dinner for you? Grandma's!

What's your family traditions? Use grandkids always dye the eggs the night before. Although this year, we were a bit lazy. So instead of using cups with multiple colors of food dye, we just added the green dye in the pot the eggs were boiled in! :rotfl:

Unfortunately, a house down the street from my grandma's caught on fire today. :( The road was blocked off as firefighters started bashing in the windows of the house. The smoke was blowing everywhere, it was especially windy today. Luckily, a police officer said the elderly woman who lived there was not home. So thank goodness for that. Apparently the house had just been remodeled, too.

Well I'm late to the party as we are down to Tom's computer I swear I could run faster than the old laptop. My laptop CRASHED and burned yesterday so

PSA annoucment faithfully do those backups!!! I hadn't done one in a while so staples is having to remove the hard drive and do it.:scared1::scared1: Don't even ask I could kick myself now. Although now since Tom's business stuff is on it he's finally going to get me a BIG external hard drive FINALLY I've been asking since before xmas

Okay so on to easter traditions....

First off Holly I know that Ma is VERY proud of you. and that you did just fine in her eyes.

Normally the meal is home grown ham, mashed taters and all the fixins This yr it was just us and mom and dad so we had corned beef, ham, mashed and baked squash. very relaxing

traditions well my basket was always a scavenger hunt to find, while fun takes up a lot of time so we now use Toms tradition His mom was from Mississippi and they built bunny nests and left carrots and celery for the bunny to rest in and he'd leave another present. So the boys find their baskets on the table or normally the couch but Bay might have eaten them this year. We always have a huge egg hunt. This year there were labled eggs and free for all eggs. The labled had to have your name on it or you had to put it back. Took them quite a while to find 70 eggs. almost an hour.

Easter always reminds me of a rebirth and a chance to start aknew. The family that has gone before me, especially this year as it was my Mil birthday. Hard to believe she's been gone 6 years this year.

I hope you all have had a wonderful day with your family and friends. To all of you please know how special you are to me.:grouphug:
