Happy days are here again!

Today we were able to get Christian out to see the surgeon and he says the fractured hip is healing well. Christian is cleared to walk again. He's shaky and off-balance after spending 5wks in bed & wheelchair, but you can tell he is so excited. He gets tired very easily, no stamina at all. I practically begged the surgeon for some PT--Christian is off-balance on a good day. He NEEDS some help getting his gait back. So he wrote a Rx for the PT. I just love when I get my way!

DH is thrilled. He has been sleeping on a blow-up bed beside Christian for the past 4 weeks. They will both be glad to get back in their own beds. And Christian will be so happy to get a real shower and hair washing! 5wks of bed baths--bleah! We may have to scrub him with a wire brush!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Christian is very motivated to walk, so I'm sure he will be back to normal in no time. And here's a funny: He has been doing Special Olympics swimming the last several years. This year I decided to take him out of the pool and put him in Track & Field. His event will be....long distance walking! State games are in late May/early June, so he ought to be speeding along by then. Practice starts in February and he should be released for physical activity about that time. Yippee!
