I am so happy for you. I don't have kids at home, but buy one set of school supply list every year. When my daughter taught I gave it to her to give away. Now I work with a single Mom/full time student that makes too much to qualify for any assistance but not quite enough to cover everything. Can't believe I am buying for a 4th grader this year And best of all Mom graduates in December.

I feel like a lot of parents are in the same boat she is. They don't make enough to get by but don't qualify for help. IT STINKS!

I just read their web site to get information about how the process works and printed the application from the second link. I took the application to EdFinancial who has my student loans. Waited and got the letter. They just took it off my account. There was never a check or money that changed hands- all electronic. I have already checked my account online and just gotten my July bill and both reflect the $5000 deduction.

I did not realize the first company was requesting money for the kit, I just looked at it to get info. I'll go back and edit the link. I would not want anyone paying for something I got for free.

I'm so glad you didn't get pulled into the *pay* for services that are free! There are too many scams going on with this awful economy and we know someone who got pulled into one for loan modification!

So what are you going to do with this *found* money? A trip to see the mouse, maybe?
