Wishing all the DISraelites and those celebrating a wonderful, safe, and healthy Chanukah tonight.

(Please make sure not to leave any lit menorahs unattended. Please please please... Stay safe! )

DISraelites..LOL. That's great! We use an electric menorah (I know, cheating), but it is so much safer than lit candles. Not as pretty though. Now pass the Rugelach! :thumbsup2

Sufganiot for everyone! (That's Hebrew for fried dough, but usually we eat powdered jelly doughnuts.)

Latkes for all!

Applesauce or sour cream?

Sour cream is for sissies!

I never knew that! Why?
My former in-laws always offered both.

How about with my homemade applesauce?

What do you serve with latkes?

Are your latkes potato only?
I add other shredded vegetables. I am not Jewish by birth, or marriage any more, so I can get creative.

I love latkes with sour cream. Nummy! We make ours with shredded potato and onion, but my mom adds shredded zucchini and carrot. She said that she started doing this when we were kids to get us to eat more veggies. ;) They look quite festive with the added veggies and taste delicious.

Kidding about the "sour cream" crack.

I tell you, there is nothing like a good gift to make a 24 period bliss. My 4 year old son got a "Lightning McQueen Pit Crew" set on the first night of Chanukah. The next morning, I slept until 9am because instead of coming into my room at 6:30, he went down to "work on his car" for 4 hours. It's a Chanukah Miracle!

I'm a pure potato guy, but onions sound good!

My mother-in-law is in charge of making latkes. Whatever she does, I concur. Those are darn tasty.

We do homemade applesauce because the kids have a blast with it.

First night, my kids' maternal grandparents were on for the gifts. Last night, it was the paternal grandparents. Tonight is our "annual cousins' Chanukah party," so the gifts will come from them. We as parents aren't on for gifts until night #4. (We also use one night as a "night of charity gifts" were we forgo gifts and give charity instead.)

We worked the gift schedule right this year!

Enjoy night #3 tonight!

I can't deal with the stink of used oil in the house, so we stopped at Dunkin' Sufganiot after school on Friday. We're covered for the weekend!

Latkes with homemade applesauce? I'll be over at 6!

If you bring those sufganiot, I'll set a place for you.

sufganiot every night - and the next 8 months working out...
but they're soooooooooooooooooooooooooo yummy!!

happy chanukah!

I had 3 sufganiot tonight. That's going to hurt.

That was preceded by 4 latkes.

Ugh.

Now that Chanukah is halfway through, I noticed a perk for an 8 day holiday.

You can make returns on gifts from the early days and exchange them for gifts for the later days!

I hope all are enjoying their moments.

My 4 year old son has his Chankuah party in school tomorrow. Unfortunately, I'll be missing it. Thank G*d for the Flip HD!

Here is my Mickey Mouse Dreidel Factory...

Happy Hannukah All!

Did anyone else get too many "Happy Chanukah"'s this past week even though it ended a while ago? It's a nice gesture, but Chanukah is not "the Jewish Christmas." I don't have the heart to correct anyone. but it did get annoying after a while.

Whatever.

Whatever.

I always thought of Christmas as a copy oh Hanukkah. After all, it's tradition to put up lights for Christmas and Hanukkah is the festival of lights, which came first.

Next year, Chanukah is Dec 1-9. So we'll have 2+ weeks of people wishing us a "Happy Chanukah" after the holiday is actually all done.

That's just the way the latke crumbles.
