Six years ago today, Disney's Animal Kingdom Park opened

Today is also Earth Day

Wow! Has it been that long? I can still remember going down the month after it opened, riding the boats and going "Wow" Boy, was it hot that year

I really like Animal Kingdom.

My hubby and I have been looking foward to going on the safari!

Six years already! Wow!! I love AK...I think it's the prettiest park...definitely has the most detail. DH didn't care too much for it the first time we went in 2000, but he has enjoyed it more and more each time we go.

I have always had a special fondness for Earth Day!

I first visited Animal Kingdom on it's 1-year birthday in 1999!

Another piece of trivia: It's A Small World opened on this day at the New York World's Fair in 1964. I knew there was a reason I loved it so much as a kid!

I was just thinking about this today when I heard it was earth day. I thought it was odd that the news didn't say "It's Earth Day and the anniversary of Disney's Animal Kingdom!" What kind of news coverage is that?


I love Animal Kingdom. It is so beautiful and relaxing. I love the detail of the park, everything looks so authentic.

Pandy, you should try driving the park some day.

While I was there at WDW, on a business convention, 6 years ago today, and my very first time to WDW, AK had its grand opening. I only visited MGM, and only for a half day, that trip, but set my love for the World in motion. I did talk to a few associates, who had visited AK earlier in the day, at an evening business banquet. They sort of rolled their eyes, said it was like a zoo, LOL. Sure am glad I went the following year to check it out. If you have the time or the inclination, try and do either of the tours there, Backstage Safari or Wild by Design, both superb.
