Happy 30th, Disney’s Hilton Head Island!

This year and this month marked the first guests of Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort, the second Disney resort to not be within range of a Disney park (after Disney’s Vero Beach Resort the year before). It opened back in 1996! Wow! Can you believe this small piece of Disney magic in the Lowcountry has been going strong for 30 years?

Pair this resort with the still-open Disney store at Tanger Outlets up Rt 17 in Myrtle Beach and you essentially have what I call “Disney World North”. South Carolinians also have the luxury of driving up here whether they’re staying in the hotel or not to munch on Disney snacks like Mickey shaped pretzels…all without leaving the state!

We are happy to be DVC Members at Hilton Head. We had been there for the 25th anniversary, and will be there in May!

We own dvc at dhhir and love going there!
We are also south carolinians that it is 3 hours to either dhhir or the disney store in myrtle beach.
