Happily Ever After and Once Upon A Time

i was at Magic Kingdom tonight and watched both shows. I really enjoyed both shows but was surprised that they were so similar. Obviously Happily Ever After has a lot more fireworks and the story is different, but it seemed like the same (almost) thing 30 minutes apart.

Maybe I’m just tired, but am I the only one that thinks this?
No, you aren't the only one. They are very similar.

. . . . . . The first one we saw and I think it was the first show of that type was the one where they would take photos of folks throughout the day and include them in the show that night.
That was indeed the first one, "MMaY". Because it was the first one, it really blew me away. There was one moment about halfway through where one of the castle transformations caused an audible gasp through the whole crowd.
HEA because of the subject matter and the fact they are combining (IMO unsuccessfully) the projections and fireworks, just doesn't cut it for me.
My solution has been to ignore the fireworks and enjoy the projections. As I said earlier (in this thread or another) I was thrilled to see a clip from 'Hunchback" as if to say "this isn't just the latest flavor of the month".

I remember being blown away by MMaY!

I absolutely love HEA now - to me, it's better than Wishes by far. Not quite as crazy about OAUT sadly. It was very awkward after the awesomeness that is HEA. And I love projection shows so was excited about it.

Is OUAT shown throughout the Christmas season or is it stopped since the castle has the icicles on it? I see HEA on the schedule for December but not OUAT.

OUAT ran last year during the Christmas season on regular (non-MVMCP) dates. OUAT is one of those things that doesn’t get added to the park calendar until much closer to the dates in question (for example, it currently doesn’t show any times past 9/1).

Hope that helps!

The Ice Lights are designed to be "invisible" except when they are lit.
Both OUAT and HEA shows have major castle projections, so the presence of the Ice Lights is not a reason to not perform them.

And, BTW, expect the Ice Lights to be installed on the castle as early as next month
(even later THIS month.)

They generally remain on the castle for several weeks before they are actually used (and stay up for quite awhile afterward.)

As was I and I personally didn’t like HEA. I felt no emotion with the show and thought wishes blows it out of the water. Yes it has nice fireworks but they synced much better with wishes.

I was underwhelmed. I thought the singers who sang the Disney songs that weren’t original singers were quite bad. Tarzan song was a disaster. Hopefully they redo the soundtrack. Biggest disappointment of my trip so far.

Sadly wishes is gone and I’ll feel no emotion during the show anymore. Illuminations takes over as my fav but I hear that’s being redone soon also

Either way yes I do agree with you. They were very similar.

Because this is an old thread and replies are being given to people who posted in November, closing.
