Greetings!

If you didn't know, WDW - as part of the HCOE - had a contest for AP holders. It was a simple (400 word max) essay on why you would be a "Happiest Passholder on Earth", with the winner - and a guest - would be part of many of the media events on the 4th & 5th of May.

Anyway, the rules said that winners would be notified "on or about April 6th", so I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything yet.

Good luck, and be well!

I am curious too! It would be cool if there were any DIS winners! How many were they picking again? 50? 100?

50 First Prizes: Admission for (2) to the press event on May 4th, including those most magic of phrases: "Open Bar" ;).

Whoever wins be sure to post because I am looking to meet up with some DISers there! :)

I am one of the 50 winners. :cool1:

I received my congratulations letter along with book box of holograms yesterday.

I know of only one other winner so far.

I was planning to go down that week any way so I thought I'd take a shot and put in an entry.

It should be fun. My 25 year old son, the inspiration for my essay, will be my guest.

Mike

My letter focused on a specific trip with my family in which my son and I did some in depth father-son talk when he was a pre-teen and then how he reflected on this later when he went to college.

I mentioned the impact the vacation had on him and how it made him aware of things like work-life balence.

It's sort of a story I had been meaning to tell and it turned out to be the right story at the right time.

I tossed in some references to Walt and also used the key phrase "Disney Magic" in the appropriate area.

I guess that recipe worked.

Mike

congrats Mike!

I just got my oh your entry was so wonderful...(just not good enough to win) letter! :teeth: Oh well, it was exciting for a while!

The letter kind of threw me for a loop because I thought they werent notifying people who lost....so for just a minute there...I was really excited when I saw the return address! :rotfl: :rotfl:

My DH and I sent in 2 different essays and today we both got it was good but sorry letter :sad2:

I entered also but have not received either letter yet so there is stil hope :rotfl:

Well, congrats to MP_Mike, and "nice try" to all others who entered. I'm still waiting to hear, but I'm glad that I started this thread: I might have seen the "Sorry" letter and thought I was a big winner! ;)

Well, I just got the "your entry was special, but not quite special enough" letter.....

I did!!! Well - actually my mom - but I "helped" her write her letter and I am going as her guest -

the essay was about how she loved Disney and always took her grandkids on their first trip there and what that meant to her and how a 60 year age gap was irrelevant in Disney World and then - but the best part was that we wrote the essay in the shape of Mickey's profile -

my DH and I each got the thanks for playing letter yesterday

Woohooo!!!! :) Let's all remember to wear our lime green ribbons so we can meet each other!!! :teeth:

DBf entered, but I forgot :sad2: O well. We haven't received word yet, but I was just wondering, for those of you who did win, are they paying for transportation and rooms? Or just letting you into the press event? Just wondering, because I have this one more night to dream about it until we get the rejection letter tomorrow :rolleyes1 LOL ... Anyway, congrats to all the winners. Here's some pixi dust for your magical trips! :wizard:

PS... any of the winners out there who would be interested in posting their essay, I would love to read it!!!!

we just get to go to the press event - my dad said we are just being sucked in - I will take ANY excuse to go to Disney -

here is my mom's winning essay - it was in the shape of Mickey's profile - the picture is how it looked printed - here are the words
I am the Happiest Passholder on Earth… As a Granny, I have had the honor of joining all of my grandkids on their first trip to Walt Disney World. Four of them, I had taken prior to this year. But the other three all decided to take their first trip this year. Becoming a pass- holder has given me the freedom to share this magical experience with them at my own pace. Nothing will compare to the joy I have shared at Disney World with my family. I always loved taking my own children to Disney and have been so delighted that they cherish those memories enough to return with their own children AND invite me. Watching their faces as they meet Mickey Mouse for the first time, trying to let them win at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and realizing I didn’t have to try, celebrating a birthday in Cinderella’s Castle, sharing their first Mickey Bar, and watching their faces as Tinkerbell flew out of the castle during Wishes are all memories I will cherish. Disney World is the one place where a sixty year age difference really seems to have no affect on what we want to do. One of my granddaughter’s will be taking her 4th trip for her 4th birthday this year (I have been on them all) and I love that the thought of returning without me is just not a possibility in her mind.… Because Granny and Disney World just seem so perfect together.
