Happiest Celebration on Earth????

When I booked my trip in January for Oct 28-Nov5, CRO told me that the Happiest Celebration on Earth would still be going on.

I read on these boards that it ends Sept 30th and that start oct 1st they will be transforming the Castle back to it's old self.

My question is, is that true? And if so how long does it take to transform back. I really don't want there to be scaffolding and such around the castle when we go. Takes away from the magic!

I believe the Sept 30th date is correct. I would imagine that it would only be a matter of days to transform the castle back. You should be all set on the 28th.

even according to their sight the new thing begins on Oct 1 2006. If you want to see for yourself go to www.disneyworld.com scroll down to the bottom and look in one of the boxes on the right hand side in a scetion I believe is called news and events.

It took WEEKS to add the golden decorations to the castle... with a huge construction crane sitting in Fantasyland that whole time.

It will be a big job to take them down.

Many here hope they leave much of them THERE.

I think originally it was suppose to go through the end of 2006. We were going to go to DL to get whatever mickey icons we still needed for the 50th. But now it is changing over at the end of September. I think they hype wore off and so that is why the had to find something new.

They worked at night, and the crane was lowered during the day.
But even lowered, it sat in Fantasyland over by the entrance to the restaurant. Not such a "magical presence" while it was there.

I wouldnt mind seeing the golding stay on the castle to be honest. I think it has a certrain edge to it which I enjoy!

Taking down the decorations is going to start on Sept 10, I think and it sounds like it will take 3 days (nights). Then they are going to paint the castle and refurbish/build a bedroom suite inside. It sounds like the new promo is year of a million dreams or something like that and you can win a night in the castle!

I would imagine that since the new celebration is starting on October 1 that all the changes will have to be completed by that date!

Yep, I read the same thing. Happiest Celebration will end at September 30th, that's for sure, and Year of a Million Dreams starts in October.

I remember seeing the crane when they were putting the gold characters up there. Sorry, no pix. But I don't think it was that bad. They had one crane to the rear left of the castle (as looking at the front) and it was folded down during the day.

You could hardly see the crane during the day. There was no scaffolding when they put the decorations up so I doubt there will be any when they take them down.

Well, Cinderellabration is ending Sept. 16. So I would have to believe that they would start taking down the decorations around that date.
